An announcer on TV during the parade Thursday said: This is the day out of the year we give and this is the day we thank so let's remember to give to the needs of those who have lost everything. I thought...gee, is that all there is? Giving thanks, on thanksgiving, is a Holiday yes, but over the generations it has lost it's meaning when simple folks did thank God for their harvest, for their bounty sent by HIM?? Here is a study on thankfulness being "US" all the time in all we do. It is followed by comments and prayer and input by ginaprays from her answer to my post in the group we work on together.
Ps 107:1 O GIVE thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy {and} loving-kindness endure forever!
Ps 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary,
Ps 107:3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the [Red] Sea in the south.
Ps 107:4 Some wandered in the wilderness in a solitary desert track; they found no city for habitation.
Ps 107:5 Hungry and thirsty, they fainted; their lives were near to being extinguished.
Ps 107:6 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of all their distresses.
Ps 107:7 He led them forth by the straight {and} right way, that they might go to a city where they could establish their homes.
Ps 107:8 Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness {and} loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!
Ps 107:9 For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with good.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you able to give thanks during hard times? Are you able to rise from bed in pain and sing: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever?" God delivers us out of all of our troubles, not just some of them. The verses above mention the longing soul, the hungry soul, and in this we see God ministers to the whole life of a trusting child. He enables you to have a shelter, food, clothing, and He establishes your goings as you trust in Him. The Bible says: "LET" the redeemed of the Lord SAY SO! The Bible says, "they" overcame the enemy by the "word" of their testamony, the blood of the lamb and they loved not their lives unto the death. Anyone who loves his life here on earth is not a longing soul seeking God to feed them. Be in a state of constant thanksgiving no matter what your present circumstances. Stop letting the enemy, the world and the pride of life, choke out your song of praise. Be constant in your trust for God's word says, In all things...during all things, in the midst of all things,,give thanks.
Words below this sentence were shared by GinaPrays after reading my devotion. I add them here for your enjoyment.

" Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."..1Thessalonians 5:18

The Old Testament has no concept parallel to the English word "thanks," that is, simply an expression of appreciation to other persons or to God. What do the words "thanks" and "thanksgiving" mean in the Old Testament? The Hebrew word is yadah, which with its derivative todah is often translated "thanks" or "thanksgiving." It means "to declare publicly" or "to acknowledge." It is used of the confession of human sin and also of public confession of God's character and works.

The New Testament words translated "thank" (eucharisteo), "thankful" (eucharistos), and "thanksgiving" (eucharistia) signify a thankful attitude and a demonstration of gratitude.
Only in three passages (Luke 17:16; Acts 24:3; Romans 16:4) are these words used of thanks given to human beings.
