Is there any Biblical information on the existence of "Guardian Angels?" Do they exist, are they assigned to us for life, etc.?
The Bible says angels are created beings (Ps.148:5), do not procreate (Matt. 22:30), and have intelligence (Matt. 8:29; 2Cor. 11:3; 1Pet. 1:12), emotions (Luke 2:13; James 2:19; Rev. 12:17), and will (Luke 8:28-31; 2Tim. 2:26; and Rev. 12:17). Although both the Hebrew and Greek words translate "messenger," angels are frequently used in the capacity of "guardian." Angels know more about God than humans do (James 2:19, Rev. 12:12) and God uses them to help believers: Heb. 1:14 "Are [angels] not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?" Gen. 24:7 "...[The Lord] will send His angel before you..." Psalm 34:7 "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them." Psalms 91:9-16 "For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways." There are no scriptures that state a specific angel is assigned to watch over a believer his whole life. Yet, as a group, angels do bring answers to prayers (Acts 12:5-10), aid in witnessing (Acts 8:26;10:3), observe Christians in their work and sufferings (1Cor. 4:9; 11:10; Eph. 3:10; 1Pet. 1:12), encourage us in times of danger and usher us to the next life/heaven (Luke 16:22).
