Job 23
10But He knows the way that I take;
When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

1 Peter 1
6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

James 1
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
A few hours ago the Lord opened my eyes as I was pondering theses verses to see that trials are a testing of our faith. It is interesting that in every verse above the word "testing" or "tested" is used. So trials are a testing of our faith to help us grow and to refine us as gold in the fire.
