Today's Scripture
Psalm 22:1
My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Why are you so far away when I groan for help?
David gave an amazingly accurate description of the suffering the Messiah would endure hundreds of years earlier ( Psalm 22:6-8 But I am a worm and not a man.I am scorned and despised by all!Everyone who sees me mocks me.They sneer and shake their heads, saying,“Is this the one who relies on the Lord? Then let the Lord save him! If the Lord loves him so much, Let the Lord rescue him!?/FONT> ) David as well was obviously enduring some great trial, but through his suffering, he, like the Messiah to come, gained victory. Jesus, the Messiah quoted this verse while hanging on the cross carrying our burden of sin ( Matthew 27:46 At about three o'clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, <WOJ>“Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani??/I></WOJ> which means <WOJ>“My God, my God, why have you abandoned me??/FONT> ) It was not a cry of doubt, but a urgent appeal to God and confirmation of Scripture.
Father, we praise You and we thank You for all You've done for us on the cross. Lord Jesus, we love You and we are so thankful for the sacrifice You made for each one of us. Help us as we look toward the celebration of Easter, to have grateful hearts and to draw closer and closer to our Risen Savior. In Jesus' Precious Name, Amen..
As we enter this week looking toward Good Friday and Easter Sunday--We will be looking at what Scripture has revealed to us about the coming of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for us and His death and resurrection. I pray this is a week of inward reflection and Spirit lead evangelism.
God bless friends !
