LISTENING to GOD
1 Samuel 3:1-21
The story of God's encounter with young Samuel
teaches us five lessons for listening to God
1... To hear God, we need a servant's spirit (v.9-10)
We can't be running our own lives
2... To hear God, we need a discerning ear (v. 4-8)
We need to be able to pick out God's voice from
the many voices out there
3... To hear God, we need a conductive environment (v.3, 5-6,9)
We can't be in the clutter of noise and movement all the time
4... To hear God, we need to listen to God rather than speak(v.10)
Most of the time we do all the talking and God does the
listening. It needs to be the other way around.
5... To hear God, we need a tolerance for hard truth (v.11-18)
We must be willing to accept something difficult from God
for what's best rather than what makes us feel good.
If we practice these five lessons,
we'll hear clearly from God
Not to hear His voice on a regular basis is to court disaster
He that hath a hearing ear let him hear
what the Spirit is saying
Samuel in1 Samuel 3: 1-21 as a Levite child ministered at the tabernacle under Eli. Samuel later served as a prophet and a judge.
At this point Samuel did not yet know the Lord personally
altho he was serving God in the tabernacle
having yet to experience
a direct personal encounter or revelation from God
Eli recognized that God was reaching out to give
Samuel a rare revelation
As God reaches out to reveal of His love and care
we must choose to so respond walking in agreement therein
A servant's heart is humble seeking the Lord
We must choose to respond to obtain the victory
with our relationship with Christ being of
utmost importance.
DIVINE LOVE MOTIVATED CHRIST TO WASH HIS DISCIPLES FEET
A servant's heart is immersed in others reaching forth
with the aroma of divine love
Jesus likewise revealed to His disciples that He brings us forth
into the arena of friendship whereby that intimate ongoing
relationship becomes more personal.
Are we shallow in our experience with the Lord?
Is our heart overtaken with many things that clutter?
Is our heart open and receptive being responsive to all
that the Lord reveals and unfoldls?
BE STILL and KNOW
The Lord our Shepherd leads us beside still waters
that we might partake of the full escence thereof
and thereby be strengthened and immersed in
His ongoing love and care
HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT IS SAYING
Revelations 2&3
A listening hear so hears and thus responds
being an overcomer whereby His victory
becomes evident in our heart, life and inner being
LET US DRAW NIGH BEING HUMBLE
TURNING AND SO SEEKING
THE LORD IN PRAYER
WHEREBY WE CONNECT AND SO COMMUNICATE
FOLLOWING JESUS EXAMPLE OF
DAILY COMMUNICATING WITH HIS FATHER
Time is of the utmost
when spent in His presence
BE STILL...HEAR and so FOLLOW
WALKING THEREFORE IN THE SPIRIT
BEING A VESSEL OF THE LORD
Speak Lord that we might
hear and so respond
