1 Tim 4:13 Till I come, devote yourself to [public and private] reading, to exhortation (preaching and personal appeals), and to teaching {and} instilling doctrine.
1 Tim 4:14 Do not neglect the gift which is in you, [that special inward endowment] which was directly imparted to you [by the Holy Spirit] by prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands upon you [at your ordination].
1 Tim 4:15 Practice {and} cultivate {and} meditate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them [as your ministry], so that your progress may be evident to everybody.
1 Tim 4:16 Look well to yourself [to your own personality] and to [your] teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
Persevere in examining how you have died to your own "self" and are existing for the purpose of emptying your self...out for the gospel of Jesus Christ. You are not your own. To throw yourself wholly.. into what the above verses say, we need to examine everything about how we present both ourself and the gifts God puts inside our spirits to develop, grow to perfection in, and seek to glorify Jesus here on earth by using these gifts. When we care for a garden, our flowers, our families,, we need to be aware of how we develop, cultivate and stir up and perfect those things about our lives. Look at your physical appearance when you are the focus of the gospel in any given circumstance. Your hair, your clothes, and even the amount of jewelry you wear. Let your appearance be clean, neatly dressed and moderate in your presentation of yourself. You reach a state of self confidence in how you present yourself, and not appear sloppy or come into a room loudly, dressed in a manner where that is all the people see and judge you by.
Develop social skills with people, look them in the eye, and think about how sales people concentrate on captivating people when you speak to them. IF you perfect those gifts God has placed in you, then you can have a calm assurance in the sharing of those gifts in the situations God puts you in. Do not neglect but perfect those abilities knowing that on that day you will hear the Lord say , you did not neglect what was important;well done my good and faithful servant .
