Ps 32:11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you [uncompromisingly] righteous [you who are upright and in right standing with Him]; shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
Ps 33:1 REJOICE IN the Lord, O you [uncompromisingly] righteous [you upright in right standing with God]; for praise is becoming {and} appropriate for those who are upright [in heart].
Ps 33:2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to Him with the harp of ten strings.
Ps 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully [on the strings] with a loud {and} joyful sound.
Ps 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all His work is done in faithfulness.
Ps 33:5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the loving-kindness of the Lord.
Ps 33:6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth.
By looking at the creation of the earth and Heavens; by giving thanks and keeping our hearts and minds on Jesus and His soon coming, and by praying prayers exalting God's sovereignty, our every day circumstances seem "so" taken care of. When we say "oh God, the Heavens are your throne, the earth your footstool, the clouds are the dust of your feet, that sentence tells you where God is exalted and tells God you desire to praise Him with your whole being. Praise is "becoming" and appropriate for those who are upright in heart. If there are issues you have not laid down at the cross and as a result you have no peace right now about your "right standing" then sit in God's presence and be still and seek His will for every circumstance in life. Tell God your heart's cry for He is mindful of the hairs on your head. On this first day of lent as our thoughts lean toward the cross where Jesus died, let us be somber and not casually give up sweets for lent but rather take some time to fast from "stuff" that robs us of our peace, of negative people that draw our strength and are not good for us, and of those things that we know of are not healthy for us. Lent is not about giving up certain foods though we need probably do that as well. As we are upright before God, in right standing with Him, we can live a life:
free from the cares of tomorrow, free from the guilt of our past, trading the shackles for a glorious crown, we are free, praise the Lord ,,,free at last.
