Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such 'wisdom' does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3:13-18 NIV

There was a small city beseiged by a great king. There was in this city a poor but wise man who delivered the city. No one remembered the poor wise man though they had heeded his words of wisdom.  ( Eccl 9:13 This [illustration of] wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great to me:
Eccl 9:14 There was a little city with few men in it. And a great king came against it and besieged it and built great bulwarks against it.
Eccl 9:15 But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no man [seriously] remembered that poor man.
Eccl 9:16 But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heeded.
Eccl 9:17 The words of wise men heard in quiet are better than the shouts of him who rules among fools.
Eccl 9:15 But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no man [seriously] remembered that poor man.) This portion of scripture really spoke to me yesterday. Some come to me and say I am a woman of wisdom. I only say to them carefully what comes up in my spirit and in truth am careful in what I share; always praying when we are done talking. One person frustrated one day said to me, "you are wrong, we are all wrong." People who have their own agenda as the king did, operate in the flesh, operate in their own pride and plans, and lack the rest-place of trust we find in waiting on the Lord for our day to day lives. Jesus said the peace He gave us was not as the world gives, so why do we still strive in this world? No one will remember the poor man but the king will be remembered for his riches. If you have confusion, self ambition, especially envey and disorder to your life...."stop" everything and be still. Read Psalm 37 and rest in the Lord all your cares and struggles.  Be full of mercy, compassion and produce fruit that remains in peace and righteousness. Wisdom is crying out to you to be still.  Though the poor man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heeded, do not let wisdom's words be drowned out by the greed of your soul.
