One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, 'Of all the commandments, which is the most important?' 'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.' Mark 12:28-31 NIV

God created everything because of His love. He showed us mercy because of His love. It was His love who sent Moses to lead the people out of bondage. It was His love to keep them provided for those forty years they followed Moses. He revealed His ways to Moses, and the "things" He did, His acts, He revealed to the people who followed. Down through the ages and through Paul and the deciples, we have this covenant with our Father God because of His love. His mercy endures forever. His mercy is new every morning. His love never fails. God is a jealous God and His word tells us; with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' God does not want you to love Him with just a part of yourself. He then states for us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Who then is the neighbor? Who then is our brother? How far does our love reach? How many conditions do we put on our love? The poor you will always have among you the Bible says. Why?? Not because God does not see their poverty and needs. Because if God did not place them in your path, He could not see how much you love Him. Love fulfills the law. The ten commandments were given at a time when Moses had no idea just how the people were down that mountain sinning against God. Do we need rules, laws, and restrictions really, if we are walking the love walk each day of our life. Oh they are there, we are aware of them, but when we walk in love that sets us free from the law of sin and death, we can walk in God's love meeting needs and sharing and giving each day of our lives. Jesus gave his life for love. It has always been about God's love and our submission to that love walk.
