Matt 5:11 Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous--with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of your outward conditions) are you when people revile you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you falsely on My account.
Matt 5:12 Be glad {and} supremely joyful, for your reward in heaven is great (strong and intense), for in this same way people persecuted the prophets who were before you. [II Chron. 36:16.]
Matt 5:13 You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.
Matt 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matt 5:15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.
Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence {and} your praiseworthy, noble, {and} good deeds and recognize {and} honor {and} praise {and} glorify your Father Who is in heaven.
Matt 5:17 Do not think that I have come to do away with {or} undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with {or} undo but to complete {and} fulfill them.
Matt 5:18 For truly I tell you, until the sky and earth pass away {and} perish, not one smallest letter nor one little hook [identifying certain Hebrew letters] will pass from the Law until all things [it foreshadows] are accomplished.
Matt 5:19 Whoever then breaks {or} does away with {or} relaxes one of the least [important] of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least [important] in the kingdom of heaven, but he who practices them and teaches others to do so shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness (your uprightness and your right standing with God) is more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

When we understand the kingdom of God "ways" the result is joy in the face of all dispair over circumstances. We are to be salt and light while we have died to our own life and our lives are now surrendered completely to God, and yes, that includes your "will." As the world becomes a darker place you need to shine brighter. As the world becomes a voice of hell, your words need some salt to them....or are you trying to be "nice?" Most of the people who compromise their walk with God, do it because they do not want to stand out, they want acceptance from people and have not seen past approval of others. Then when they are not accepted by "some," then they leave and slide back into old life habits. As the things once only done in the dark are now paraded down the streets, our lights for Jesus must shine bright. The people who think they are now beyond the law and are self-righteously dragging grace in the mud, need to know they are falling back under the law which judges them. Christ Jesus fulfilled the law when He died for our sins, but when he set us free, it was not to go our own way but to die to our lives, and let Him live through us in our humanity. If you want to be great in God's kingdom, learn to be the servant of all in "HIS" righteousness, light, and be that salt He created you to be to make a difference in a dark world. It's your choice, your will, and His grace.
