Prov 13:10 By pride {and} insolence comes only contention, but with the well-advised is skillful {and} godly Wisdom.
Prov 13:11 Wealth [not earned but] won in haste {or} unjustly {or} from the production of things for vain {or} detrimental use [such riches] will dwindle away, but he who gathers little by little will increase [his riches].
Prov 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
Prov 13:13 Whoever despises the word {and} counsel [of God] brings destruction upon himself, but he who [reverently] fears {and} respects the commandment [of God] is rewarded.
Prov 13:14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death.
Prov 13:15 Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the transgressor is hard [like the barren, dry soil or the impassable swamp].
Prov 13:16 Every prudent man deals with knowledge, but a [self-confident] fool exposes {and} flaunts his folly.
Prov 13:17 A wicked messenger falls into evil, but a faithful ambassador brings healing.
Prov 13:18 Poverty and shame come to him who refuses instruction {and} correction, but he who heeds reproof is honored.
Prov 13:19 Satisfied desire is sweet to a person; therefore it is hateful {and} exceedingly offensive to [self-confident] fools to give up evil [upon which they have set their hearts].
Prov 13:20 He who walks [as a companion] with wise men is wise, but he who associates with [self-confident] fools is [a fool himself and] shall smart for it.
We live in a world where really hardly anyone wants to be "told" anything even if the "teller" happens to be wanting "good" for the hearer. It would seem this freedom of choice country we live in just might result in a lack of wisdom made choices. Ephesians 5:3-5 says the opposite of the selfishness, greed and the "way" things are right now. The scriptures above really tell us the results of not seeking to walk in wisdom. Structure, order, discipline and obedience are all words very few people like to hear along with the word authority. In Proverbs 16:9 it says "Many are the plans of a man's heart, but the Lord determines his steps. There is no gray area, no half truth, no private interpretation, and each of us decides if we will be self confident greedy fools or to be obedient to God's best plan for our lives, seeking wisdom and being confident and dependent on God to lead our steps, so we do not miss all the good in life HE has for us. The sad thing is our entire life can be changed by one of the above scriptures being taught to us and we go our own way, but the sad thing for me personally is when you do make a wrong choice that causes others to suffer? The scripture comes back to remind you of the "fruit of your doing."
