Prov 16:21 The wise in heart are called prudent, understanding, {and} knowing, and winsome speech increases learning [in both speaker and listener].
Prov 16:22 Understanding is a wellspring of life to those who have it, but to give instruction to fools is folly.
Prov 16:23 The mind of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning {and} persuasiveness to his lips.
Prov 16:24 Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.
Prov 16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man {and} appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death.
Prov 16:26 The appetite of the laborer works for him, for [the need of] his mouth urges him on.
Prov 16:27 A worthless man devises {and} digs up mischief, and in his lips there is as a scorching fire.
Prov 16:28 A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.
Prov 16:29 The exceedingly grasping, covetous, {and} violent man entices his neighbor, leading him in a way that is not good.
Prov 16:30 He who shuts his eyes to devise perverse things and who compresses his lips [as if in concealment] brings evil to pass.
Prov 16:31 The hoary head is a crown of beauty {and} glory if it is found in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).
Prov 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, he who rules his [own] spirit than he who takes a city.
Prov 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but the decision is wholly of the Lord [even the events that seem accidental are really ordered by Him].
Prov 17:1 BETTER IS a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of feasting [on offered sacrifices] with strife.
Did you ever watch when a man and woman are in a heated discussion? Nine times out of ten, the man is trying to get into some other room or walking away from the many words, or out the door. I would rather sit in the corner of some cold attic and eat a crust of bread picking the mold off of it... "in peace"...than to eat at a fancy table in a warm house with someone who constantly lives in strife. Very few people in today's society seem content and thankful for the peace the Lord gives us. God's word says, "let" the peace of God rule and reign in your heart and keep your mind safe in Christ Jesus. Gossiping separates friends and so does strife. During one Christmas two years ago, a terrible thing happened. One of the churches I sang at, had hired a woman to play the organ from an ad in the paper. She was a young Catholic girl with two small children. One of the Sundays I was there for special music, I started to walk out when the Holy Spirit nudged me to walk up and talk with her. Our conversation ended with her asking me, what does it mean to be born again, and I prayed with her to ask Jesus into her heart. That was in summer. By winter she was full of joy but very worn out from working two jobs to support her family as her husband was a stay at home Dad who drank alcohol to numb his state of mind. A few days before Christmas she had begun to take medicine to relax her nerves. When she came home from work, her husband demanded the money to go shopping and told her something that caused an argument. She quietly left the house on a night when it was 11 below zero. Two days later, they found her frozen not too far from home. I heard some one say that after the funeral, the husband's sister told him, we will meet you at your house, did you buy some beer? Her body was found not too far from my house and yet the Lord did not send me to her but took her home. In stores, because I am alone, I notice how many people are fighting, children are miserable not happy, and if we do not wise up, we will end up destroying one another. Be slow to anger the Bible says, A worthless, perverse, exceedingly grasping, covetous, violent man does not keep those characteristics to himself, but entices, torments, and as the verses above state, the fruit is bringing "evil to pass." We constantly hear folks saying peace on earth, or peace be with you. The difference is, there will be no peace on this earth, unless it is in your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. The wise and the wicked can not dwell in peace, "anywhere."
