And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Isaiah 65:24
Prayer is not an art form that requires years of study and practice. Prayer is communication with God. He does not desire a recited speech from us, but conversation. We can feel comfortable talking with a friend but for some reason, we become intimidated when speaking to the one who knows more about us; our needs; wants and desires, than we know ourselves. As in any relationship, communication is absolutely necessary for the relationship to grow. It is the same with our relationship with God. We can communicate with Him, more openly and honestly, than anyone else. God hears the prayers of our heart, when words fail us and can't be found. He knows our pain; our joys; our fears; our failures, and our strengths. He sees what we hide from others. Prayer is not one sided either. We sometimes have a tendency to do all the talking and none of the listening. Have you ever met a person who monopolized the conversation? They leave the conversation with no more than when they entered it. They do all the talking and very little listening, if any. Sometimes we do that to God. We approach Him with our requests; our problems, and all that we have to say, but we don't take the time to listen to His wisdom; His instructions; His words of peace that He desires to speak to our hearts. Then we too, leave the conversation with nothing more than when it began.
Prayer
I thank You Lord for Your faithfulness, and that You hear every prayer and answer each one. You know my innermost thoughts and reveal truth to me and things about myself I may never otherwise be able to face. Thank You for inviting me to have a loving and personal relationship with You. Give me wisdom and truth that I may continue to grow in Your image.
