Today's Scripture *November 6, 2008*

Genesis 8: 8-16
He also released a dove to see if the water had receded and it could find dry ground. But the dove could find no place to land because the water still covered the ground. So it returned to the boat, and Noah held out his hand and drew the dove back inside. After waiting another seven days, Noah released the dove again. This time the dove returned to him in the evening with a fresh olive leaf in its beak. Then Noah knew that the floodwaters were almost gone.He waited another seven days and then released the dove again. This time it did not come back.
Noah was now 601 years old. On the first day of the new year, ten and a half months after the flood began, the floodwaters had almost dried up from the earth. Noah lifted back the covering of the boat and saw that the surface of the ground was drying. Two more months went by, and at last the earth was dry!
Then God said to Noah,  Leave the boat, all of youyou and your wife, and your sons and their wives.

Occasionally Noah would send a bird out to test the earth and see if it was dry. But Noah didn't get out of the boat until God told him to. He was waiting for God's timing. Noah knew that God knew what was best for him and his family.
God knew that even though the water was gone, the earth was not dry enough for Noah and his family to venture out. What patience Noah showed, especially after spending an entire year inside his boat! We, like Noah, must trust God to give us patience during those difficult times when we must wait. Remember--God knows what is out there! And He knows what is best for us!

God, You know what is best for us! Help us to put all our hope and trust in You!
You are still on the Throne! You reign! You are in control! Remind us God, not to rush ahead of your timing.
Your will is perfect! Your way is best! May we wait patiently for You.
During difficult times God, and we are all faced with those..may we lean on You, we need to trust in You!
May we encourage one another to wait on You, Lord. In Your Precious and Might Name, Amen..

Blessings!
April
