God Is Truth
Scripture Focus: John 14:1-13
"Jesus answered, 'You are right in saying I am a king. In fact,
for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to
testify to the truth.' 'What is truth?' Pilate asked" (John
18:37-38).
One morning I woke to see everything differently. A blood vessel
behind my retina had broken, and the fluid leaking out distorted my
view.
Sin has distorted the way people see God and His plan to take care of
sin. Though God came in the flesh and testified to the truth, people
still wonder, as Pilate did, what truth is.
Relief came when surgery corrected my physical eyesight, and relief
came when God removed my sins and showed me His spiritual truth.
We who have received God's forgiveness no longer have a distorted
view of Jesus. We discover the truth in God's Word as the Holy
Spirit reveals it to us. Believers see Jesus as the promised Messiah,
"Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of
Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).
Jesus is Emmanuel-God with us. "God the blessed and only Ruler,
the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who
lives in unapproachable light . . . . To him be honor and might
forever. Amen" (1 Timothy 6:15-16).
Insight: Do you trust in Jesus, the
Truth, or is sin still distorting your view of who He is?
