Seed Devotion: Warning To Pastors: Avoid The Rush!
Scripture NKJV Jeremiah 23:1," Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!" says the Lord.
What happened at the Walmart in New York yesterday was absolutely ridiculous. People were so excited about the post-Thanksgiving bargains that they ran over and stepped all over a worker and killed him. Over people 200 ran into the store, and for some of them they were probably only going to save $5.00!!! This type of stuff is senseless, in my opinion.
The situation that occurred yesterday just spoke to me about leaders in the church. What happened to this person yesterday was a physical death. But often leaders who veer away from God are killing their congregations spiritually. In both of these cases, innocent people suffer the consequences.
If you are a pastor and you have a congregation it can be real tempting to be in a rush for money, power, and status. It can be very tempting to want more power when you see everyone is coming to your church. Then you see your congregation growing and you get dollar signs in your mind. Then all of a sudden you want to be a bishop.... oh I feel like preaching now!!!
But the people who often suffer from this most is the congregation. The ones who have trusted you as their shepherd and are in your care. They are the ones whose lives fall apart because they have been trusting you. They are the ones that become in bondage to the spirit of religion where it becomes about rules and laws rather than about a relationship with Jesus Christ. They are the ones who become broke, busted, and disgusted.
Here are ways that pastors can avoid the rush and be great leaders for Christ:
A) WALK LIKE CHRIST
B) TALK LIKE CHIRST
C) THINK LIKE CHRIST
D) LIVE LIKE CHRIST
There you go! Short and to the point! Get into the Word and obey the Word. Crucify your flesh daily and take authority over the devil and his demonic schemes. As a pastor, you are held to a higher standard. This is your warning.Amen.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this warning. As a minister you have entrusted to me a great responsibility. Holy Spirit help me to walk worthy of my calling in Jesus name, Amen.
The best and most important decision you can make in your life is to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. If you would like to do that today please pray with me:" Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending your only begotten Son to die on the cross for my sins. Jesus I repent of all my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart. I make you Lord of my life. In Jesus name, Amen." If you have just prayed this prayer, congratulations! You are saved and apart of the Family Of God! The next step is to get into a good bible based church where the Word of God is proclaimed.
