I tried to find a nativity scene at the stores yesterday but they were not carrying any. The streets were filled in this new town I am in, with Christmas carols, and when I got home pushing my cart with groceries in 10 degree weather, alone I sat having peppermint tea and enjoying looking at my tree, I turned on the Christmas music and heard a jazzed up version of silent night which made me cringe, and then a rock and roll version of oh Holy night, and then that was followed by blues at Christmas song that sounded like Frank Sinatra. I started laughing and could not stop. I suppose others were crying listening to it, but we need to be wise about what the enemy tries to do. At Christmas when family is scattered, we see so much hustle and bustle, gift buying and laughter, and we are alone? The family you know of are from Washington state, to Florida, Texas to Utah, Michigan to those financially able to travel everywhere else? And you find yourself alone? A strange state? Everyone you knew rejected you and the laughter comes in like a knife and people say, be happy, happy joy joy to the world without knowing the joy to this world was when Jesus was born? Do not let your heart be cast down in heaviness. Deferred hope makes the heart sick. Be not deceived with what the world is doing around you and be caught up in Christmas's past. Do not look back but keep going step by step, day by day with the secret knowledge of the coming of the Lord and do not lose your joy, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Through The Storms
Jackie Clinton
Though the storms bring winds to unsteady us, and blow against our back; though the waves roll in and sweep us under we never need know lack.
Though skies above are darkened by troubles that we see,
it is hard to see the son shine in hearts of you and me.
Though all around have failed us and forsaken to walk in our ways, we have this peace within us to forever in us stay.
Though sickness, pain and trials, come at us from every side,
the winds of adversity blowing, hold fast my dear sweet bride.
Though all around is darkened by all we can not see,
stand strong against the currents for there is yet to be...
A hope that flows within us, with joy and peace and life,
though all around is trouble, circumstances and strife.
Hold fast my sister and brother, for God has seen your plight,
stand bold my dear beloved, he will come as a thief in the night.
Draw near to Jesus and stay close, He is the anchor in every storm,
though your heart be much discouraged, let Jesus keep it warm, let your anchor hold through every storm. amen
