Yuck some of this stuff sounds horrible. I know for a long time that Nutriberries had the ethoxyquin in it but have since then started using another preservative. good article. Nan

I wondered where you were? Glad to see you Nanners

I stopped giving mine the nutriberries or the store bought ones a while back when I heard about the Ethoxyquin. it's also in some pellets... I try to always read all ingredients now-a-days.
What I'm wondering is: did they discountinue using that in them?

This is a good article as is the www.parrothouse.com/ethox.html
Thank you Nan

It sure keeps you on your toes, doesn't it? Gillian Willis is great ... we have several of her articles in the Bird Care Articles on the left sidebar, with her written permission of course. I'll have to ask her if I can add this one to our collection.

P.S.  She is a Canuck, and lives in Vancouver, British Columbia

Kinda makes you want to switch your fids to a "all human food" diet, doesn't it? I make my own dog biscuits... guess it's time I learn how to make my own parrot treats and pellets too, huh? lol

Sunnie,
I make my dogs wet food and then mix it with a quality dry food and add vitamins. I also make their own doggie bisquits too, so I know what you mean! On the sidebar there are some recipes for bird treats!  Nan
