Hello Di Yes she has a name, we live in a town where the high school mascot is a Jayhawk, it was borrowed many many years ago from Kansas University, I don't remember the whole story but the school colors are red and blue. So we mixed it all up and came up with KayCee. I will take credit for this one. Allen |

Etta she should be weaned somewhere around May 17th however she will not be rushed.Yes she is on a counter top without paper towel so she is not standing right..lol.She is normally on paper towel when she is out of the brooding box as you can see in the first picture . I have only been to see her once so far.The breeder told me I am more than welcome to come see her when ever I want, but where I don't drive I can only go when Allen is home.Evenings are normally out because of the kids and the rest of the flock.Mondays are really the only time that I could go and I know thing coming Monday wont be good for the breeder as he is traveling to Ohio to a birdshow on Sunday.Maybe I will get to go Monday of the following week. Kelcy is excited about this one(for now)But its like I keep telling her you will only get back what you put into the bird.I think now that she knows more and see's how Cocomo is with her she might put in more of an effort with KayCee. |

I remember when we just had Taipa....The other day I said to her(baby do you remember when it was just the 2 of us?)I must have been feeling a little guilty for taking on so many so fast,But Taipa was only alone with us for 4 weeks so she might not recall that short period of time. Some moments not very often I think,oh man have I bitten off more than we can chew? Its normally at birdie bed time then once they are in bed that thought is gone ....lol I do have to admit as much as I love my flock I am getting tired out alot faster than I use to and falling asleep befor 9 p.m most nights. |

Karma, be careful not to overload to the point you don't have any one on one time with them. I did that. I got so tired. It took about 5 hours a day to clean cages and the floor and prepare food. That's way to long when you have a family to care for. Just one little illness and you have terrible mess to work thru in the days following it. I wipe down all cages, clean out all papers and replace them daily and I get so upset when I can't do that. For one thing, it smells really bad when I don't wipe off the cage bars and remove papers daily. And if any of the birds eat seeds it seems to double the number of times we have to sweep the floor or we track it everywhere in our shoes. More housework. I am relieved to have only two left although I miss my babies like crazy. Annie |

It now takes a couple hours to clean cages here. Admittedly 5 are macaw cages, but between those and the play stands, the feed, cooking makes the morning go quickly. The afternoons are 'work' times for them... and then of course the dogs. So worth it, but as Annie said, don't overloead! |

Even tho' our 5 are small-ish ('zons and cag's), they do take a while to clean, feed, and entertain. And Lynn hit on one thing that takes time - play stands. The cages and the floor are one thing, but those play stands are always a mess, and they take a fair amount of time to clean up. The 'zons have a big one that has to be taken apart and cleaned. The greys have those little acrobird ones, but some days I have to take them in to the bath tub to really clean and rinse them off good. Then I have to clean the bathtub. And the drips in the hall on the floor. And I'm not getting any younger. |

I just talked to to the breeder and KayCee was to be ready for around May 17th but he said It looks like it might be longer than that. She is still taking 3 hand feedings a day and not showing any signs of letting up on one of those yet. She is playing with some seeds and grain mixes but not eating them yet. He said she weighs 340 grams but still looks kinda skinny to him and she should be putting on some fat here soon....So it looks like the wait will be longer. Oh well that will give me more time to get Tukki a little more adjusted before KayCee arrives. Oh and all of my cages are Macaw size cages so Cooper I know what ya mean by it takes a while to clean them all down everyday.........Sigh.............then there are the dogs, kids, hubby, house work no wonder I pass out around 9 |

Karma, I think it will work to your advantage to wait a little longer. As you said, it will give you more time with Tukki first. I'm sure looking forward to this! lol I'm enjoying everyone's new babies almost as much as I would if they were coming to me! Abby |
