Oh for goodness sake. I just wrote out a long long thing in reply and MSN ATE IT.
Phooey!
Your first expense will be to have her vet checked and blood testing done for avian diseases plus zinc and lead toxicity. Any disease or toxicity would make it very hard on her to try to raise babies. Diseases can also be passed to the babies. This visit runs about $300-$350 in my area.
Then if you find a male, he needs to have all the same testing so he can't bring a disease to her. He needs to be quarantined for at least 6 weeks so you can observe both birds for illness and stress.
Next problem probably wouldn't be her age but whether she will accept a male of your choosing. Some hormonal female ekkies can be awfully cranky, mine sure is. She could hurt a male who wasn't ready to mate at the same time she is.
Do you have caging and feeding info that you need for large breeder birds? I don't breed my bird but can look around for info if you need it.
Is she a human-orented bird? The breeder birds need time to bond before breeding, unlike dogs and cats who will mate anytime the opportunity arises.
Let us know what you decide and how it goes.
