Just curious if your finches are as messy as mine..I have 2 male zebra finches and 1 parakeet and 1 canary. I noticed that the finches are so much more messy than my other birds.I have no idea how or why they are constantly tearing newspaper and making a huge mess..then the outside of the cage also gets old food stuck in the corners...they always play in their water dish instead of going to the bird bath...

Are your finches as messy as this?

I don't have finches any more but used to have Gouldians.  Their main mess was with seed flipping.  They waited for me to hang their bath to bathe.  So cute when they traded turns in the bath.

Bailey, Do a search for Senegal parrot breeders in PA.  I found a couple of them.
One has fertile eggs now.

No, sorry, we aren't supposed to put links to commercial sites here on BB.  All you have to do is type senegal parrot breeders in PA in your search bar on your pc and it will pop up.
Good luck.

I tend to think messy is up to our interpretation.  I would be very unhappy if the dogs threw their food everywhere like the birds do, or if I had to pick up visible clumps of dog hair from the floor like the down feathers that are spread all over my office.  I would hate to have containers of dog food stacked on a shelf in my bookcase.  But being as this is all for my birds, I don't seem to mind at all.   di

Finches aren't messy...they're actually quite good at keeping their cages clean, if you think about it.  Empty seed hulls, feathers....all go outside their living area, instead of dropping down onto the cage papers like with the bigger birds.  I try to keep that in mind as I vacuum up after the budgies & keets, and 2 hours later it looks like I hadn't done a thing at all.

My lakeland terrier puts any and all of my birds to shame.  Winston stresses out over loud noises (and we live near an Air Force Base) and takes out his stress by ripping up papers--newspapers, unpaid bills, birthday cards...doesn't matter.  So...I usually leave a few newspapers sitting where he can find them so he leaves the "important stuff" alone.  In that context, all of my birds are actually neat and tidy.

I see what you mean, ZonkersMom125, But if given the choice of ridding My living area of feathers and seed hulls, or poop, id get rid of the poop myself

Nice try Nancy-but finches are the messiest birds to keep!! They also are the only ones who can make their water STINK to high heaven over night?? How?? I don't know!!!!  But it gags me some days--but they are cute and I do love them--eliminated the MESS by putting them under glass--they live in an environment--with screening only at the top--But give me a macaw any day !!      Katz
