Immature red bellied woodpecker--his red head feathers are not complete yet.
Young female squirrel. One is slightly pregnant but I think it's another one. Hubby wants to know how a squirrel can be slightly pregnant.
Young female cardinal.  She holds her crest differently than adults. Flattens it a lot.

Thank you.
I promise that I am going to let that feeder empty out and scrub it good. From up here on the patio I can't see all that dirt but when I crop these pics I cringe over how nasty it is.

I am just so taken with the pics that I don't see any flaws and that includes a dirty feeder....

I can't see a semi pregnant squirrel... I see a pudgy overfed little critter

Lol about the feeder.
My youngest granddaughter was here over the last weekend and decided that the gallon jar that I keep the almods and other nuts for the house birds in was dirty,  and the nuts were dirty too.... Fortunately it was only a glass of water that she dumped in, because I didn't find that 1/2 the nuts in the jar were soaking wet until Tuesday... I had just been grabbing from the top and those hadn't been saturated.... At least she admitted it when I called and asked her.  It wasn't fun to have the oven on in 90 degree temps though....
Want me to send her out your way? I'm sure she would do a good job!

Send her on but tell her she can't play with water around here.

Annie has all brown feeders so we can't see dirt.  I don't even see dirt on the birdy toenails or squirrels!  You must have a little poogie wipe mats they used before getting on the feeders.  I'm cleaning mine all the dang time.
Those are wonderful pics, Annie..those woodpeckers are a hoot and the babies make the funniest whistley squeelie sounds.

The Downys brought their babies a few weeks ago and the begging squeaks were so cute.  They'd sit on the branch above the parents at the feeder and beg for food.

Beautiful photos.
You might reconsider the red squirrel though. Those tits look like one who just began nursing. They will get longer and protrude more if they babies are nursing, but those are distinct and usually indicates babies. (they don't get real big when pregnant so they can escape from preditors)

Well!!! the squirrel and I are completely insulted. She's not chunky, she's just fluffy.
They really are slim. It's just the way they sit on the fence that makes their tummies look pudgy.

I think she is young, Abeau. We have a Mama who is very well endowed compared to this little girl.
The one who is slightly pregnant looks much more bosomy than this one.

Do you remember the pic of one of the girls from last year, taken on the day before delivery?
Here she is. This one is definitely not just slightly pregnant. I laugh every time I see this pic.
