Our quakers beak over grows and needs to be trimmed. The shaped is not normal either. What causes this? He eats fine, plays fine, happy as ever, talks, everything is normal except his beak. |

It needs to be checked out as it could be something as simple as diet to the fact the bird could have a disease....... Have you found any articles related to beak overgrowth and diet? I used to have quite a few since I had been given an older Conure with a massive overgrowth and with the proper diet/toys and perch, it did help........... Too2 |

Please have your avian vet determine if it is possibly a fungal infection. If so, certain oral meds can be given.

My RL zons beak overgrows. It has to be trimmed about every 6mo. I was told it was because of his age. He's about 50yrs. He had a well bird check when I got him and he was fine. He also shreds the feathers on his chest, but doesn't pluck. He's the sweetest bird I have. |
