A serveral   weeks ago (july 3)  I found a fancy grey cockatiel   very dishevveled , hundry and  dirty in the middle of a soccer field. He has   a black band over his eyes that make him look like a bandit  or Zorro if you romantically inclined.  Ive advisertized inthe apers and at the humane society and at several of the  vets and bird shop  that speciallize inbirds in  the city  No owner yet   The vet suspects he was let go  which is such a disgrace that people actually do that.
im looking for a name as we are all (5) of us in the family with opiniated names selection  and cant agree  so we thought we go to the experts and ask you for a name
Hes difinitely male  and he must of lived close to a construction wharehouse or his owner was in construction worker or owner as he makes all kinds of noise like  construction equipment
Some very irritating.  like that beep beep noice when a heavy machine backs up
the dadadadadada of thoes big drill that go into cement roads to   ZZZZZ sound of a chain saw   and he does them indifferent tones.  soft   med  loud and very loud  depending on his moods  hes very smart as in about  two weeks that he'd been here hes picked up my sons cell  phone ring  and the sound of our doorbell.  Now he also does the beep of my dryer when its finished and just last week he made a new sound  -   the  chime of my cucoo clock     Hes not big on whistlin. He only whistles a tweet   or one note  whistles  Hes more into noises  He makes the brushing of teeth sound,   and several sounds that we have not  yet identified.
I want to call him" Zorro"  and my husband wast to call him "lucky" ( because we found him)  my sons wants to  call him" Tool Man" and my other two  want to call him  "  Boo"   and  "GANGSTER"    because he walks with a limp and spreads his wings slightly to make himself  look tough  and his walk is very dramatic

We had him  checked out and hes very healty   and just last week we introduced him to Marques our cockatiel  and they are fine together  but  has a fear of hands    you cant pat him or give his scritches  with hands but you can with your toes or your lips if  you stick them out far enought  .   Hell sit on your shoulder but wont let you touch him  I suspect and so does the vet.   That some yahoo owned him  had  flick his fingers at him etc etc  Atfirst he would only eat from your mouth  but I discouraged that very quickly  and he now eats from his dish or now from your hand if you keep your hand about an inches below his feet he wont go near you if its at his body level
any ideas   we will vote on the names as a family  and since there is five of us we should not have a tie
thanks guys
mari-lyn

How great that you found him & gave him a loving home !!!  He is indeed a lucky bird, no matter what he gets named.

Of the name choices you listed... I don't care for the Gangster one.  Maybe you could combine two into "Lucky Zorro" ?  The "Tool Man" is also a clever name.  If you are looking for a new option that maybe several will agree on... maybe "Buzz", since he makes the buzzing chainsaw noise.

Let us know what you decide on !

I love Tool Man since he does all those construction sounds.  Must be so funny--or maybe not if it goes on all day long.

Hey, What's up?   Well now, I myself am partial to the name of ZORRO - cause I just got a gray and white (male) cockatiel in May and wanted to name him Zorro for the very fact about the mask thing but I did not . . . however, after reading about your bird limping a bit - I have the perfect name for you - same as my bird . . . IGORE - think about it - we call our bird "Iggy" for short and I have an album with his picture in it called "Birdie & Iggy and More" - check it out its on this site where the photo albums are - please let me know what you decide!!!  If you don't go with Igore - go with Zorro - very cool name!!!   ha ha

Or how about softening the 'gangster' name and name him after some gangster?  The modern day gangstas could be fifty, Snoop, or Tupac hahahaha!  I'm partial to Tupac!  Cute.  Or how bout some of you guys that might know some of the famous names of old skool gangstas, like the Italian Mafia head man or something...Godfather!  hahahaha!!!  Names are so fun...they're my favorite part of pets, unless it's my pet and I can't think of anything....I hate that.

Hi There!!  You have a very funny bird.  I don't want to confuse things further, I like the name Buzz but I have another suggestion:  Jack as in Jack Hammer, Igore, Iggy, is pretty good too.  Good luck.
