I have to bad knees, but I know I need to walk, is there any other exercises anyone else can think of that maybe I can do at home that doesn't include bending my knees, which always go out...lol

Dee
You can exercise your arms, using soup cans or soda bottles as weights.  You can do crunches on the bed, if lowering yourself to the floor is a problem (I used to do them in my hospital bed, even with IV tubes).  There are also leg lifts you can do in bed...although they work better with ankle weights, if you can get them.  Where there's a will...if you really want to exercise, you can find ways around your knee problem.  The very best aerobic exercise is swimming...but you would need to join a gym or a club that has a pool, which can be costly .  I hope you find a way to include exercise in your lifestyle.  You'll find it decreases your bgs, and increases your overall health!

I found the gazelle (Tony Little's gazelle) to be much easier on my feet, knees and hips.

I tried it out before I bought it. Waited a couple of days to see how I felt.

I started out with just 5 mins. last January and have been increasing my time on it.

Please let us know what you do.
Hugs,
angelbear

There is an exercise video on chair exercises it is aerobic and pretty good and you could choose which ones to do based on what you can do.  It is kind of fun

Here are two good sites (I'm sure there are more) that show some good exercises you can do while sitting....a good start for those of us couch potatoes and good things those who hurt too much to walk can be doing...check 'em out for yourself and have fun...

Have you ever looked into trying "Tai Chi" exercise?  A quick web search will return countless sites that explain and offer instruction in this anicient form of martial art.  Tai Chi is extremely "low impact" and involves slow, controlled movements and breathing techniques.  I have practiced this art for most of my life and would not be in as good condition without it... in addition to keeping the muscles toned it is also very helpful for stress reduction and mental health.

Hope this helps...
