Ritchie in my office saved my life this morning using the Heimlich maneuver.  <o:p></o:p>

I was eating my biscuit at my desk and a chunk got caught in my windpipe.<o:p></o:p>

No one was  here accept me and Ritchie in the back and Jeannie upstairs<o:p></o:p>

I couldn’t cough it out so I ran to the back of the office choking and said “help?.  <o:p></o:p>

Ritchie said  ?/SPAN>what do you want me to do??SPAN>  I choked out “Heimlich?  So he<o:p></o:p>

did it.  Nothing happened on the  first two tries and I was thinking oh god <o:p></o:p>

call 911 I’m gonna suffocate. But I moved his fist closer to my breast bone<o:p></o:p>

and on the next try it worked!!!!  The chunk just fell out  We were all shaking <o:p></o:p>

afterwards and then we had to laugh to release the tension.   Ritchie said <o:p></o:p>

he had never done the Heimlich and didn’t really know how. And Jeannie <o:p></o:p>

up stairs almost fell down the stairs trying to get there to help.  <o:p></o:p>

We all sat around shaking for a while and now we are back to business!!!!  <o:p></o:p>

Accept everytime I make a noise Jeanie (who sits right over my head<o:p></o:p>

practically) jumps!<o:p></o:p>

Oh Sugar!!!  That is so scary!!!  I choked once on a Mentos.  I couldn't even make a noise to get my ex's attention, so I stumbled into the living room.  He did the Heimlich.  Afterwards the area around my lips was blue.  The next day my ribs hurt.  I think of it every time I see Mentos.

You'll be careful eating that bisquit now eh?  I'm so glad you're ok!!!

Wow Sugar!  It sounds like you knew what to do and helped him help you.  If you had been alone they say you can do the Heimlich to yourself by using a chair...I don't know how to do it but it might be a good thing to learn for all of us.

Glad you are OK..

OMG............what a scarey thing to have happened to you, Denise.  I'm glad Ritchie was there to help you and that everything turned out okay.

Everyone should know the Universal symbol for choking.  If you don't, click on the link below and scroll down a bit.

Oh my gosh, Sugar...how frightening that must have been for you.  Good thing Ritchie was there and didn't panic...thank him for us, because he saved one of our dear friends.
