Layout of Haniko's House

A beautiful one story house sitting on a 2500 square foot slab in a beautiful lush country side, where your only neighbors are the birds and the bees.  Designed using beautiful oak trees that are native to this countryside, but with a traditional oriental look. Sliding bamboo doors that are as solid as steel, but as soft to the touch as the material itself.   Shrouded behind a 20ft high cobble stone wall that surrounds an impressive 50 acres with an elaborate steel gate that crowns the entrance, this house serves as both a shrine to the beauty of the land and the people in it. With a massive entrance hall, three beautifully designed bedrooms, even quarters for its servants and guards, this house has everything to offer, yet nothing to spoil the senses or dull the marvelous landscape around it.  It truly is a monument to it’s surroundings.

With a small stream running through the propery that empties into a pond in the back yard this is an ideal place to be set out in the middle of the forest, secluded from the prying eyes of everyone else. Only thing that is seen above the great cobblestone wall to the onlookers is the roof and the small bamboo forest growing behind the house near the pond and the surrounding area.

Haniko opens the large steel gate to her home and invites her companions in. As she walks in two small armored sentries walk past her and bow. The small lizards look aprehensivly up at the great minotaur. They whisper to one another in there native tounge. Haniko shoots them a glair. "Be Nice!. Day are my gueests....Back ta work!" She takes a step forward and the two guards run away in the direction they were heading.

Haniko leads them to the front door and slides it open stepping inside. It is much warmer in here with a fire going in the fireplace in the other room. Haniko Slips off her sandles and walks past the entry hall and into the main hall. Lena hears Haniko talking to two men and she can hear her small foot steps walking down the hallway to another part of her house. (if you take off your shoes or not) Lena and Riddik walk into the Main room.

And see two men knealling at a table eating some food and talking. They are dressed in confortable clothing and don't appear oriental at all. Two piles of equipment can be seen near the fireplace. Lena recognises the two as Leech and Tidus. They both turn to her and smile.
"Come on in lena, warm yourself by the fire." He pulls the towel off of his shoulders and holds it up for her. "Just used it to dry my hair." He finishes his bowl of rice and looks to her large companion without a second look. In a growlly voice that lena most likely can't understand (unless you speak Minotaur.) Leech speaks to the large body guard. "Hello Comrad. Been traveling with the human for long?"

OOC - Guess I jumped a fence too early, my bad. Ignore previous post in general.

Lena understood her friend's reluctance and uneasiness about the strange and fearsome appearance of Riddik. She had shared them at first sight. But then his character had been vouch-saved by Jarlosh, and Riddik had proved himself in battle.

"Lady Haniko" the young bard said - "I know he looks decidedly odd, but he has been nothing but kind and supportive. He has been a faithful guard to us on a journey to acquire rare and precious plants. And I do hope these plants will  survive this untimely weather! Riddik has even saved bith Claude's and my life! I think you would like him if you gave him a chance."

As Lena walked ahead with Lady Haniko, Riddik paused to give aid Claude, who was leading his mount. Then Riddik slowed to check on the gear being carried. Riddik gradually fell into position - pacing beside Claude's mount.

As they neared what appeared to be a residence, Riddik considered just quietly taking the bag of remaining provisions left from the excursion and silently leave - running back along their track and away. He paused to long and heard a voice: "Velcome to my home."

Claude and Lena are somewhat taken aback by the sentries so casually dismissed by Lena's friend. Behind them, they hear Riddik's grunt and snort.

As they enter the house proper, the cousins finally begin to warm-up. Lena takes a cue from her hostess and removes her shoes and tells Claude to do the same. She looks to see Riddik tossing his boots to the corner and and rubbing what Lena thinks could very well be the most hideous socks she has ever seen. She glances quizically at Riddik - while sitting on the floor they can really see eye-to-eye - who smirks back at her "What?" She sighs and turns back to enter the what seems to be the main room of the house.

She leads her friends inside and sees Master Leech and Sir Tidus. "Thank you lord Leech," she says as she takes the towel. Sharing one end with Claude they quickly towel the remaining snow from their heads and then she tosses it to Riddick.

Copying her friends and gesturing for Claude to do the same, she gracefully takes a seat near the fire to warm herself thuroughly. Catching his eye, she says "Sir Tidus, may I introduce my cousin and sometimes apprentice, Claude? Claude, this is a friend of Lord Leech"

Lena is somewhat surprised to hear sounds issuing from Lord Leech that are similar to the muttering Riddik made while fussing with the horses or in his sleep. It was no surprise then to have the sounds returned. "Only a couple of days," she hears Riddik say in Common - "But they seem nice enough sorts. Altogether too interested in plants, but hey!, it's a free country. She can play a mean lute, though." And then he seated himself slightly behind Lena, placing his back to the wall.

Speaking back to Riddik in common. "You speak common." he smirks obviously very impressed. "I see absolutly nothing wrong with an interest in plants. I have great influence in plants too....but thats natural for me howeveer. i've always been that way." As Leech starts a conversation with Riddik Haniko steps out wrapped in a large blue towel.
"Lady Leena. Please come dis way." she looks to her companions.."Alone." Haniko leads Lena down the halway and through a sliding rice paper door.

Haniko lets Lena in her room closing the door behind her. Her room is realativly plain save the things that are in a normal bedroom. only big thing is on one wall is lined with a great collection of paper fans.

Haniko goes to her closit and opens the sliding wood doors and reveals her swords and a dresser on which the sword stand rests on. She opens up one of the drawers and pulls out a blue silken kimono and closes the drawer and the closit door. she points to a rice paper dressing screen. a candles light can be seen through the paper slightly flickering. "Go ahead an change. Dees cloths are warm an soft." she hands the kimono to the young bard. "You can stay 'ere as long as you like." she speaks softly now. "The secret entrance is fenished and connectted to my 'ome. Is dis riddik trusty enough to take to da pilla?" after the question is answered she turns around to leave lena her privacy.

OOC - oops, sorry about the delay!!

Before Lena can continue the conversation that Leech has begun, she is called away by Lady Haniko. "Lady Leena. Please come dis way. Alone." Lena is struck by the variety and beauty of the fans, and pauses frequently to more closely examine a few - without touching any.

"Go ahead an change. Dees cloths are warm an soft." Lena remembers how comfortable the loaned kimono was that first night in the Pillar and is happy repeat the event. She quickly drops her clothing to one side and slips into the blue garment.  "The secret entrance is fenished and connected to my 'ome. Is dis Riddik trusty enough to take to da pilla?"

As Lena considers the question, she closes the loaned garment about her and tries to wrap the sash properly as she emerges. She fumbles with it as she steps from behind the screen. She answers: "I have known him for less than a week - But he has acted faithfully and honestly and bravely. He also has a ship - he may wish to consider his hire completed and check on his ship! Shall I ask him?" and she continued - "Could you check and see if I have tied this correctly?" she said as she stepped to her friend. She continued - "This unseemly weather is - perhaps - the opening blow in the war - Are you planning a trip to Elmshade to check on the situation? Or are we sitting tight in the Pillar for now?"

Haniko turns Lena around as per request and unties the back and reties it. The Kimono fits tighter but more comfortable. "Yu wanna make sure yu tie it vury tight. yu don wanta have boty parts showin to much." Haniko smirks and laughs a little. "unless yur out on da town partyin." She  straightens out a few wrinkles on her kimono and walks over to her fan collection finding a fan that matches the color of her clothing and hands it to lena with two black hair pins. "Here. Keep dees fo when yur at my 'ome. Less suspician when visitors arrive" As they get ready to head back out the door there is a small knock and a females voice.
    ---------------------------------

"Mistress Haniko, Azreal and M. Pomme de Terre have returned with the deer you requested." said the female voice.
"Oh good!" she says as she opens her sliding door. as she goes to walk out she turns to Lena. "Yes please ask 'im what yu was gonna ask. then come an find me. I 'ave to speak wit som one." and with that she turns down a hallway.

"So, What brings you to elmshade sir? you smell a lot like the sea. Your a long way off coarse if you would pardon the pun. What are you doing out this far?" Leech asks as he pours himself a cup of tea and offers an empty cup fo Riddik (he fills for him if he accepts). Leech listens as he walks over to check on his drying armor and equipment. He pulls his sword partly out of his shieth to make sure the blade is drying. "and you Claude, how are you? i havn't spoken with you for sometime now."

Lena takes the hairpins and fan and turns to the mirror. She quickly pins her hair up in as close an approximation as she can - given that her hair is shorter than Hanikos - and sticks the fan in her sash. She then returns to the front room where the others have remained.

By the fireplace Riddik replies as he extends his cup for some tea, "Looking for an old friend. Then the lady and her cousin wanted to go plant-hunting. It killed some time." The gentle bovine sipped the tea appreciatively -

Claude responded "As you probably know Lena wishes to establish a Perfumery here. We went looking for exotic plants. We found several. As well as some healing plants. I do hope they survive this untimely cold snap. And there was Bertha . . ." Claude ended with a sly smile.

Riddik erupts with a hearty guffaw at the mention of that name. At that moment Lena reappeared in the hallway and said "Sometimes women play hard to get - ask Riddik what it takes to beat a frail flower." She then returned to her place by the fire and knelt down. After a conversational pause she quietly turned to Riddik and said "I feel you have more than earned your fee - and hold your hire complete. Claude and I may stay here a day or two - but if you need to meet someone else . . ." and she let the remark die.

Riddik sipped his tea and reflected over the past few days. He smiled and said "I can see that if not actually to Elmshade and the arms of your family - you are with friends. And I want to get back to my ship. I will accept your offer - but would like to remain friends. I will have to locate some interesting plants and send them to you." He grinned - "maybe Bertha's cousin!!"

((sry this has taken forever to reply i actually had no idea on how to continue this so i'm gonna try))

Haniko comes back from the back rooms and waves Leech to come here. They talk in private for a moment and he leaves for one of the back rooms. She then waves lena to comee to her. "'ave yu spoken to yur friend?" after listening to Lena she asks. "are dey gonna stay until da storm is out?" waiting for the responce again she nods at the answer. "Reson i'm askin, is dat word came from de pillar. dey want all ov the original pillar membas to return to da pillar when dey can. My 'ome will be taken care ov by a few of our new guests. So when yur ready tell me." Haniko nods to her kinda as a verification.

OOC - No problem - and no hurry.

Lena quickly rises in responce to her friend's gesture and approaches. She replies: "Yes, we have spoken. Riddik will leave after the storm and return to his ship. May my cousin accompany us? We can leave at your convenience."

Lena bowed to her retreating friend, it just seemed the thing to do. Then she returned to the fireplace-warmed room where her cousin and friends were.  As she entered, a group of silent servants entered from another door bearing trays that held steaming bowls, plates of bread and small handle-less cups of tea. Trays were set between Leech and the Knight as well as between Ascellina and her cousin Claude. A slightly larger tray was set before the sea-going Minataur. A tray containing an additional teapot was placed close the Lena, next to the fire where it would stay warm.

Once the trays were placed, the servants bowed themselves from the room. After the diners bowed their heads for a silent blessing, they began eating. The steaming bowls were identified by Leech as 'war wonton soup' with a smile. Small condiment bowls of honey-butter and apricot marmelade were with the bread. The tea was excellant.

Once the group was sipping tea over the empty bowls Lena said "Shortly, Lady Hainko, cousin Claude and I will begin working with the plants. After all the work we've done, we don't want to lose any to this unseasonable weather! We may end up working through the night, so I'll say 'Good-bye and Farewell' now, Riddick. It has been a pleasure traveling with you. I hope we may meet again, sometime - over a salad!"

Haniko came back into the main room and looked to Lena and nodded to her to incite that she is ready to go. Leech seeing this nods aswell and stands up aswell. Going over he collects his equipment and slings the pack over his shoulder. He looks over to the young knight who relaxed near the fire still talking to Riddik.
"Tidus, when the weather dies down a littletake him back into town. I'm going with to work with the plants. Have a good night gentlemen." He nods and follows them all out of the room.

Following Haniko she leads them into the kitchen where several servants and a few Kobold guards are in working. She takes them to the back wall. pressing a knot in the wood the pannel clicks open. She steps through to a candle lit room. In the center of the room is a statue. Sitting on top of the statue is a glass lamp with a fresh wick. Closing the door securly behind them. They trek across the room to the statue. Handling the lantern to Leech she reaches into the smallest carving and touches a button on the inside. The floor around the statue starts to circle open leaving a stone hewn set of steps that lead down. Leech lightng the lantern heads down first. As he goes his hand flies to his weapon real quickly as Arwen and Brotter appear out of the darkness.
"Your late to switch. We've been waiting here for 10 minutes." Arwen says yelling at Leech.
"Sorry we had a delay. So quit dottling and get Areal so she can come down. we can use her magic anyway." Leech commands his sister and both her and the dwarf dissapear up the steps. Within the next minute or so the robed woman who informed Haniko about the arrival of M. Pomme De Terre appears through a side door. Lena and her cousin saw multiple shelves of books and various reading materials through the pannel as it opened and then closed.
"Forgive my lateness mistress Karou. I was doing the research that you had asked me to do for you." Areal said with a bow.
" Were only a little behind the schedual, it's all ok." She looked to Claude's amasment at everything. "umm Lena you want to explain to him everyting? or do you want us to do it." She says this as they head down into the tunnel. Once everyone is down Leech steps on a small stone and the lid closes above them leaving the lantern as there only light source.

[OOC - who are M. Pomme De Terre and Areal? And do you realize that the name means "potato"? literally, "apple of the earth"?]

At Lady Haniko's return Lena stands up and gestures for her cousin Claude to rise and join the party. As they pass their waiting gear, the cousins quickly pick up the necessary packs. As she picks it up, Lena tosses the now half-depleted bag of provisions to rest besides Riddik's own personal bag.

They follow Haniko into the kitchen, through the hidden door and into the statue room. She is startled but not surprised to see the secret staircase appear. The cousins make their way down in turn and are startled by the sudden appearance of Arwen and Brotter. They waited while the stairway was again hidden. Then they see their bags of precious plantings against the wall.

"We're only a little behind the schedual, it's all ok," said Haniko. "Umm, Lena, you want to explain to him everyting? or do you want us to do it."

Lena replied "I'll explain more fully later, Cuz, but simply, this is where I spent that night after my first performance." As she continues the story, she gestures Claude to help her in gathering the precious cargo and preparing to follow Haniko's lead.  "You and I are helping them with some alchemical work. But the most important thing to remember is - They speak not with my authority, or even as Uncle Pa - Think of them as Granny!"

(i hate my internet...i'm sry)
(Areal was in for only a second or so go to post number 6 and you will see what i mean.)

The party starts to move down the sloping passage moving down and down the corrador what seems for about 2 miles on foot if not longer. The though of how deep they actually were was kinda shocking. The cavern seemed to be a little rough and quickly made but seemed to be just fine. the ground was rough and solid so no one could slip. Walking further down Claude can see some things etched on the wall. a long phrase written in dwarven with a picture of a dwarf with a hammer at the end (basically says Ironclad was here). As they venture down sonds of metal on stone could be heard and after a minute or two of it getting louder and louder they could see sparks flying from the wall ahead. "hold your pick Ironclad, were passing through. Don't want any injuries." Leech says holding up the lanturn. A large burly dwarf holds an all steel pick in his hands. As the lanturn passes over the wall light refects off of it. "Any luck with the gems?"
"A little lad but the be stubbern." The dwarf spouts out. "Move it alon ays got me work to finish.." He steps back to the wall and looks back to the party in the growin darkness. "Wellcome back lass." He nods to lena and starts back to work. soon after that they see some torch light ahead, soon the torch light can be seen as two brackets line the walls. comeing up to the wall leech stepped on one of the multiple small stones on the ground and the door slid open. he ushered everyone in. (tbc at the Pillar of Flame board)
