Hello all,

I am posting this is the hope that someone can help knock down some brick walls - I have never used this sort of forum before and am not sure whether I should post separate messages for each name. So I apologise if I have done this wrong. The people I am interested in are:

- BARRY - Bartholomew (B late 1700s) in Limerick, Ireland. Married Johanna (surname unknown). The only child I have for them is Patrick (B abt 1810 Shannagolden, Limerick; D 27/5/1886 Australia). These are my 4th grandparents and 3rd great grandfather.
- BARTLEY ?Martin (B abt 1823 County Clare, Ireland; D 5/3/1877 Australia) married Hannah Joyce in Victoria, Australia. Martin’s father was John ?no other details. Martin and Hannah are my 3rd great grandparents.

- BESGROVE/BISGROVE ?Joseph Bisgrove ?the name seems to have changed over the years to Besgrove ?was born 1755 in Somserset, England, died 20/5/1807 in Kingsbury, Episcopi, Somerset. He married Margaret Knight (B 1760; D 1826 Kingsbury, Episcopi). These are my 6th great grandparents. I have found 3 children for them, including my 5th great grandfather, George (B1790; D 8/4/1848). George married Ann (Nancy) Trott (B abt 1791).

- CAMERON ?probably the wrong forum for this one as it is Scottish but here goes. Duncan Cameron and Sarah McGregor married 17/1/1784. My 4th great grandmother Sarah Cameron was their daughter and was born on 2/1/1785 in Cornwallen, Scotland and died 3/11/1870 in Australia. Sarah Cameron married Alexander McGilvray about 1809 in Argllshire, Scotland.

- CLIFTON ?John (B abt 1770) he and married a Philadephia Swift (B abt 1775). These are my 5th great grandparents. The only child I have found for them is my 4th great grandmother - Philadelphia Clifton (B 5/5/1797 Northiam, Sussex or Hawkhurst Kent; D 22/4/1878 Australia). She married James Stace (B1802; D 16/1/1866) on 21/11/1818 in Northingham, Sussex and had at least 12 children.

I hope someone can help me.

Hi Cherie

I've been looking into Clifton for you.  Hopefully the following will be of help.

In the 1841 census Philadelphia Clifton b 1771 in Kent (age 70) was residing in Burgate Lane, Canterbury with John Clifton b 1816 Kent a Wool Comber.  I'm assuming John was Philadelphia's grandson - the dates and ages would fit for this.

There is a death record of Philadelphia Clifton in the September quarter of 1852 in Canterbury.  Again, this would fit.

Regarding Philadelphia Clifton, your 4th g.grandmother, I have found eleven of the 12 children (in no particular order):

ELIZA ANN - 15 Sept 1823 Sussex
JAMES - 14 April 1825 Sussex
EDWARD - 9 Jan 1827 Sussex
RHODA - 10 July 1833 Sussex
HENRY - 12 July 1831 Sussex
MARY ANN - November 1820 Kent
PHILADELPHIA - 26 June 1819
ANN - October 1829 Sussex
LOUISA - 15 May 1836 Sussex
HARRIET - 8 January 1842 Middlehope, New South Wales, Australia
SARAH ANN - 1838 New South Wales, Australia

I am ASSUMING the twelfth child was indeed John as mentioned previously who was residing with what could be his grandmother in the 1841 census.

I have also found marriages for two of the children:

Eliza Ann married JOHN TUCKER on 20 January 1848 in New South Wales, Australia
Rhoda married JAMES WEEKES in April 1850 in New South Wales, Australia

A death record of Rhoda has presented itself also - 4 December 1887.

Hope this information is useful to you.

Kay
