My brickwall!! James KEATING has on his death certificate when he died
in an accident in Arrowtown, New Zealand, that he was born in 1842 DUBLIN.
His parents aren't named but his father's occupation was given as
"merchant". I have been unable to find his immigration to New Zealand.
I think he must have slid down a rainbow. When he married in New
Zealand his condition is shown as a bachelor so I must presume he
hadn't married in Ireland.
I would appreciate any help I can get as being on the other side of the world makes research very difficult.

June

Hi Mike,
A reply from St Mary's Pro-Cathedral
"All our records prior to 1900 are kept on micro film in the National Library. If it is later than 1900 please let us know the date name etc that you are looking for."

What is my next step, please, as it's certainly before 1900?

Hi Mike,
I have been in touch with Dublin City Library and Archive and they have found that John KEATING was not present at 10 Charleville Mall in 1841 but was in 1842. Now I have to find where he was prior to that address. I have found him at this address in 1842 - 1850 but not there in 1862. Any ideas?
Thanks
June

I suspect he may have died. In a list you sent me a John KEATING died in Clonmel 28-7-1862. Maybe he went back to his hometown and died there.

That is a possibility. The next to try then is a Death record. He would most likely Have had his Funeral at the same Church

Hi june,The death Records will be Kept by the Same people you Contacted before. If St marys Was his Church They may Have Johns and Marys there. If not Then if after about 1860 The GRO should have it.Ok it Does cost with the Gro.Its about 11 Euros for a Cert.
But Cheaper for Copies. But you would need o know Date of Death. They will run a search of 7 yrs
