It didnt take me long to realise Ida was very special indeed because of her deafness she is stone deaf. I went into denial and tried hard to understand how she must see her silent world, it upset my husband and I very much, so much we mourned for Ida's hearing. I asked a few dear friends in other communties about deaf ferrets I joined a deaf ferret mailing list and found out there are many out there just like Ida and that they are no way disabiltated by there disability, they are just as active as mischievious and as much fun loving as all other ferrets.
One day at the vets office we were getting the babies routine shots done and our vet asked us if we would be interested in taking a sad rescue case, we had no hesitation what so ever and left our phone number with instructions if it hasnt been spayed or neutered go ahead and do it, update its shots and give it any medical attention it needs ring us asap with information. We had our hopes up only to be dashed. A few days later I wasnt feeling very well and our wedding aniversary was near so my husband decided to surprise me with a little bundle of roan coloured fur , we called her Tara, Seems like my furry family was still growing.
Christmas was just around the corner and my son Robert had arrived from Australia for the holidays what better present could I have gotten? Well after a while my son and husband said they had to do a bit of shopping and I wasnt allowed to go. They hadnt been long when they knocked on the door, I thought they had forgotten something when they announced they already had my present... curled up in a little black sable ball inside my sons jacket was Craigie he was the tiniest baby I had ever seen My son said Craigie was the first to approach them, he just waddled up to them as if to say "Well here I am, arent you going to pick me up"? it was love at first sight.
Now my Family IS complete .... well that was untill we were at the petstore and in a cage with two larger ferrets was a tiny tiny ... still is a tiny little chocolate sable fuzzball , we just knew she was coming home with us the instant we saw her.
I felt i had to protect her from the dangers of falling into the wrong hands, so Melba joined our furry family and yes this is THE END
