Candy Sushi
1 tablespoon butter, cut into pieces
12 regular marshmallows
2 cups puffed rice cereal (recommended: Kellogg`s Rice Krispies cereal)
4 fruit roll-ups (pressed dried fruit rounds, 8 inches) any brand, any
flavor
8 strips licorice candy (recommended: Twizzler`s brand), any flavor ?BR>pieces should be 6 to 7 inches long, trim to match width of roll-ups

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows.
Stir marshmallows until completely melted. Remove mixture from heat
and add cereal. Stir to coat cereal evenly in melted marshmallows.
Roll out the fruit roll-ups. Place 1/4 of the coated cereal onto each
fruit roll up and spread and gather toward 1 side of roll up. Place 2
licorice twists onto the center of the spread out cereal mix. Wrap and
roll the candy and fruit, maneuvering the licorice to the center of
the roll, so that the finished product resembles a sushi roll. Repeat
with remaining rolls.

Place a sharp knife into a bowl of very warm water. Cut candy sushi
with warm knife and arrange on a plate then serve.

MOLASSES TAFFY ****

2 cups molasses
2 tbsp. butter
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar

Combine ingredients in a heavy 3 quart saucepan. Stir with wooden spoon until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Continue cooking to hard ball stage, 260 degrees F, or one drop in cool water makes a hard ball.

Pour taffy into large buttered pan. Turn edges of taffy to center of pan with a spatula.

When candy is cool enough to handle, have a taffy pull. (Pull taffy until shiny, stiff and light in color. if it begins to get too sticky, butter hands lightly. Pull into long strips about 1/2 inch wide.)

Cut taffy into bite sized pieces with buttered scissors. Cool and wrap individual pieces in waxed paper. Store in covered container.

Fun for children and adults!

VARIATION:
Try adding four drops of oil of peppermint before you pull taffy.

Coconut Joys

I don't know if anyone would consider this
a candy, but they are easy, and the kids
love to "help" make them.(They are good too)

1/2 C. Butter or oleo
2 C. powdered sugar
3 C. (8 ounces) Coconut
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

Melt butter or oleo in large sauce pan.
Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar and
coconut. MIX WELL.
Shape into small balls. Place on wax paper-lined
cookie sheet and make an indent in the center
of each. Fill centers with melted chocolate
Chill. Store in frig. Makes 3 doz.

I make the above at Christmas time. I make the
next recipe at Easter -

Follow the recipe above but add green food
coloring to coconut, sugar mixture and
MIX WELL. After filling the centers with
chocolate place tiny jelly beans in each "nest"
(The kids can put the "eggs" (jelly beans) in
each nest.) Chill / store in frig.

Licorice Wands

Black or red licorice sticks

White chocolate candy melts

Sprinkles (optional)

Melt the white chocolate according to the instructions.

Take a licorice stick and dip it into the white chocolate to make a wand handle. Sprinkle with sprinkles if desired.

Set the hollow licorice stick over a wooden skewer so the chocolate handle hardens straight at room temperature

Peppermint Toads

frog or toad chocolate candy mold
white chocolate candy melts
peppermint candy flavoring oil
chocolate chips or other chocolate

You can use food coloring to make the white candy melts any color you'd like, since green would be appropriate.

Melt the white chocolate according to the instructions.

Use a toothpick to add peppermint oil drop by drop until you have the desired taste. Be careful, since the peppermint oil is VERY strong!

Spoon the flavored chocolate mixture into the candy mold and let harden in the refrigerator.

When solid, pop out your toads and add the eyes with a small paintbrush and melted chocolate chips.
