I have to reset it several times a day cos it freezes up on me!    If it's not freezing up, it's switching itself off without warning!!    Don't know what else to try, it's driving me nuts!  I can't do any serious lurking!

Oh no.   It sounds like that worm blaster virus to me Jo, have you tried running the removal tool to see if it picks it up?  Does it keep shutting down when you're connected to the internet but run okay if you're offline?

Yes that sounds like it, Sharon.  Do you happen to have the link for the remover tool?  It might be one I haven't tried yet.

Sure hun, just go HERE to download the removal tool.  You're better off printing off the instructions before you start aswell, then run the removal tool off-line so it doesn't shut you down while you're doing it.

Well, there was no worm.  But I did change some setting to say that when a program fails to restart the program rather than shutting down the computer.  Don't know if it's worked or not but the computer has been ok today (touch wood).  Also, I deleted a ton of crap off the computer, I just hope it's nothing important.

Thanks for asking!

Dammit...  I got some mail to say I had a worm. Some said this work, others said that worm. I downloaded several worm removal tools but they never found what they were looking for...  Have you gone to pc pit stop or done one of the symantec checks? They are both good!
