Serves: 2 Ingredients 2 ounces turkey breakfast sausages 1 apple, medium 2 teaspoons margarine, canola-based, trans-fat free 2 slices bread, whole wheat 1/4 cup reduced calorie pancake syrup
Preparation - Please note that a Granny Smith apple works best in this recipe.
- Split sausages in half lengthwise. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and brown sausages slowly (turning often) until cooked through, about 15 minutes.
- Wash apple, remove core, and slice thinly.
- In another skillet, heat margarine over medium-low heat. Add apple slices and saute´, turning often, until nicely browned and tender.
- Apples should be brown at the same time the sausages are ready.
- Toast bread. Drain sausages on paper towels and arrange on toast, dividing evenly among the 2 pieces.
- Arrange apple slices over sausages. Pour syrup over all (2 tablespoons per serving). Serve immediately!
