Hi All!  I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but I havea question for anyone who was treated for bipolar disorder during a pregnancy.  I am currently pregnant- will have scheduled C-section July 12 or 13- and am experiencing what is called in most countries antenatal depression type symptoms.  This is when around 32 weeks gesatation the mother will experince typical symptoms of deppression and anxiety.  However, because I am bipolar it's been complicated by anxiety attacks, and deppressive sleepyness sometimes to the point of impaired functioning.  Does anyone have any recolection of how they were treated for any similar symptoms during their pregnancy.  My phsychiatrist is reluctant and I'm temped to switch doctors.  It gets complicated.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks very much.

There are treatments while pregnant.  Prozac is one that I know they put pregnant women on.  I had 2 miscarriages and only got up to 12 weeks, but I tried to go without meds, but never got far enough along to get real bad.  So I don't have personal experience, but I know my pdoc was ready to put me on meds that were ok for pregnancy.. The only warning I got was that I couldn't breastfeed, because it would go through my milk..  But there are treatments..

Thanks for the info. Sounds kind of like what my pdoc has said.
