Has Christmas become too commercialized? Is it ALL the fault of the advertisors IF you feel it is too much commercialism? Or is it up to the individual to keep with traditional values surrounding this holiday? Come on ........give us your thoughts on this! |

I truely believe that the way celebrate is completly wrong. My late Grandmother was raised in Holland, and there Christmas is a celebration of Christs Birth. There is no Santa that day. Santa does come there was well. But if I remember correctly "He" comes bearing gifts on December 5th, maybe it is the 6th, not to sure but its one of those 2 days. Has anyone read any satistics for The Holiday season? Tiss the season for the highest time of Suicidal Deaths.Dont get me wrong, Christmas is my fav time of the year, I enjoy buying gifts for all, but let me tell you, when you are living off a budget like I am, its difficult, and I couldnt imagine having kids as well. So Kudos to all you parents. I remember growing up, and getting our Christmas Gifts from the thrift store. My mom was a hard working single mom, who didnt get a penny from my Dad. I remember fondly waking up and opening my gift from Mom, it was a Puzzel. I was so excited cause this was something I could actually do with my mom. We didnt get the puzzel finnished, because some pieces were missing, My mom cried that whole Christmas. I remember telling her at that point atleast we had food, and a roof over our head. If we were kids these days, Im sure it would be diff, I am sure I would have been really pissed off, and this to me is not the parents fault, it is the Huge Companys that fill kids heads with crap. Anyways, thats my opinion, things are just way to expensive these days, you know Stores could lower their prices through the Christmas Season, and they would probably make more money. The commercialization of Christmas is all wrong. Everones tryin to make a buck. This said buying for a third (and i'm told ficticious character), puts an added strain on parents. The commercialization of not only Christmas but Santa, furthers the strain on families and apart from that advertising only a day after halloween for Christmas kind of sucks as well. There is far too much publicity about this religious holiday that it truly is almost sacreligious. That said its not even Jesus on the airwaves but Santa. Its not a celebration of the comming of our savior but the comming of some big fat alchoholic who apparently likes your kids more than you do. I like to buy things for people that they want or need but this last few years I've been having a hard time getting into the spirit of Chistmas before like two days prior- never mind the 12 days. Think about this for a second... If Christ comes again, or even at all depending on your beliefs, will there be two christmas's? I shudder at the thought. |
