The Young Offenders Act...a tool in the destruction of society as we remember it.
Under this "blanket", offenders, that are under the age of 18, do not have their names printed in newspapers, (for their and their families protection apparently...ya whatever ) and are subject to lesser punishment for their crimes, than would an adult. Why is this happening and why should it be allowed to continue?
I think the punishment should fit the crime, no matter the age of the "criminal". It's time to get hard and drop this bleeding heart practice. Send em off to prison with the big boys, let em have a taste of where they are headed, and see how tough they feel in the morning.
I say ,let society know who the bad guy is, in big bold, black letters....hell, even publish a recent photo. Give the would be criminals something to think about...."we know what you did and we know who you are". Am I saying let's turn society into a vigilante squad? No, but there are many "young" offenders who use this act to their advantage and play the system to the hilt. Papers take photos of young offenders being arrested, yet they blurr out their face.....come on, enough already, show us the little creep's face so when we see him on the street, "he" can sweat, wondering whether we will attack "him".
Personally, I hate violence. fighting gets you nothing but black eyes, sore muscles, and fewer friends.
One last comment.........
A young man is killed, the investigation reveals it was gang related. The family, of the dead gang banger is quoted as saying, as they hold a photo of him when he was 4............."he was such a good kid, always their for his friends and family"...............HELLO!!!!! He was in a gang.....you know.....the groups that rob little old ladies at the bus stop, deal drugs, assault unsuspecting people walking down sidewalks and shoot up neighbourhoods in drive-by shootings, only to discover they had the wrong street, cause they "couldn't" read the street sign.
Gimme a break already!
