We are called to realize that they cannot see "forever"... those entities that blindly head toward their own visions of nirvana... toward the greener grass across the busy highway... They do not hear the now silent years of emptiness that once held the potential of laughter, sighs, whispers and sweet nothings.... They do not feel the missing warmth of their lover's touch, their bodies wrapped around each other in sleep... They do not miss the sight of her smile or her eyes lit up over some delightful moment in her life... They cannot... they will not... they have not...
Are we to run behind.. catching glimpses of that disappearing back... occasionally falling into a starless abyss and having to find our own way out while he runs ahead, daring us to pursue, daring us to have the strength to overcome the obstacle he deliberately sets up for us to jump?
Or are we to run the other way, playing the cruel game of distance & pursuit, distance & pursuit.... and MORE distance & pursuit?
Or do we grieve in shuddering sobs... and then simply say... good-bye my love?
Forever... and a day...
