Do you remember knowing me?
When horses ran free across the plains,
while windswept flames followed?
Do you remember loving me?
Beneath an endless sky filled with jewels,
cradled by the earth and it's secrets?
Do you remember locking eyes,
as enemies searched the trees and brush,
trying to find us?
Do you recall the hopelessness?
as babies clung to mothers' breasts,
while strangers marched us along a foreign trail?
Do you remember that life?
that love?
that loss?
Or is it too painful?
