I dont know if you have heard of this but Im currently practicing a type of meditation called seidr. Its a type of trance travel. One would meditate and induce a light trance to start a journey. At the start, you will ask to meet your totem or guide... I have done this twice now and have met my guide, again. He is the one I have had since I was 8 years old. I have seen many things on these journeys, symbols that represent different bits of knowledge I need to learn. If anyone has practiced or heard of this, I would love to know!~Dandy |

Dandy..This is the kind of meditation I go into when I do Reiki on myself. I always meet my guide(s) on this journey. Usually, I see several of them, sometimes they are in animal form. This type of meditation is so wonderful for seeking answers, relaxing or learning something new that your guides want to teach you. I have now taken to writing down my experiences after the meditation, because sometimes the messages come through louder and more clearly After a few days, and I can go back and read what I learned on my journey. Have you had conversations with your guides? or are u just being shown a path? Do you know who your animal guides or totems are? I can help you with this if you like. Let me know, I am always here to help others on their journey. Bright Blessings...Kim |

This is a different type of meditation from what you may be looking for, but it does bring me great pleasure and tends to bring my energies into alignment. I pick up my guitar and play with as much feeling and emotion as I can pull out of myself. When I finish I tend to feel relaxed and more at ease. It just happens to also be a great deal of fun! |

The other night I was doing a meditation (now remember, I'm new to this) and in the midst, I felt a searing pain like someone was sticking a hot needle into the very top of my head. What was that all about? ~Avidly |

April 25, 2006 Silencing The Chatter Taming Monkey Mind In Meditation It's been called the monkey mind - the endless chattering in your head as you jump in your mind from thought to thought while you daydream, analyze your relationships, or worry over the future. Eventually, you start to feel like your thoughts are spinning in circles and you're left totally confused.
One way to tame this wild creature in your head is through meditation - although the paradox is that when you clear your mind for meditation you actually invite the monkey in your mind to play. This is when you are given the opportunity to tame this mental beast by moving beyond thought - to become aware of a thought rather than thinking a thought. The difference is subtle, but significant. When you are aware of your thoughts, you can let your thoughts rise and float away without letting them pull you in different directions. Being able to concentrate is one of the tools that allows you to slow down your thought process and focus on observing your thoughts.
To develop your concentration, you may want to start by focusing on the breath while you meditate. Whenever your monkey mind starts acting up, observe your thoughts and then return your focus to your breath. Some breathing meditations call on you to focus on the rise and fall of the breath through the abdomen, while others have you concentrate on the sound of the breath. Fire can also be mesmerizing, and focusing on a candle flame is another useful tool for harnessing the mind. Keep the gaze soft and unfocused while observing the color, shape, and movement of the flame, and try not to blink. Close your eyes when you feel the need and continue watching the flame in your head. Chanting, devotional singing, and mantras also still the mind. However you choose to tame the monkey mind, do so with firm kindness. The next time the chattering arises, notice it and then allow it to go away. With practice, your monkey mind will become quiet and so will you.

The only thing i can say about my meditation...is when i get deeply into it, i can almost experience it as hypnosis persay(drifting into another realm)...you feel yourself feeling and seeing like never before (everything is so enhansed). It`s amazing!!...but my chakras all have to be open first or it doesn`t work as well. We all experience it differently, but i`m sure we all enjoy it just the same...we get what we need. |

Hi Heath! It may very well be that you have two spirit guides. Some will be life long, some temporary, and others follow from existence to existence when they choose. Family members can also serve the same function when they offer advice. The next time you go into meditation, pay attention to what you are shown (like you did this time). |
