The following questions can help you determine which animals are probably totems to you in your life. Which animal or bird has always fascinated you? (We are drawn to that which most resonates with us. Those animals which fascinate us have something to teach us. ) When you visit the zoo, which animal do you wish to visit the most or first? (esp. children)
What animal(s) do you see most frequently when you are out in nature? Have you had encounters with animals in the wild? (The animals we encounter, in their city environments or in the wild, have significance for us. We can learn from them, even if only about survival within that environment.)
Of all the animals in the world, which are you most interested in now? (Our interests in animals change. Yes, we usually have one or two that are lifetime, power animals, but others become prominent when there is something importance or specific to teach us.)
What animal most frightens you? (That which we fear the most is often something we must learn to come to terms with. When we do that, it then becomes a power. Some shamans believe that fears will take the shape of animals, and only when we confront them without fear do their powers/medicine work for us instead of against us. Such an animal become a shadow totem.)
Have you ever been bitten or attacked by an animal? (Historically, if a shaman survived an attack, it was believed that the animal was the shaman's spirit totem and the attack was the totem's way of testing the shaman's ability to handle the power.)
Do you have dreams with animals in them or are there animal dreams you have never forgotten? (This is especially important if the dreams are recurring or if at least the animal image in the dream is a recurring one. Children often dream of animals, & attention should be given to these animals. They will often reflect specific spirit totems of the child. From Animal Speak: Ted Andrews |

Okay, anyone care to try and analyze MY animal tendencies? Obviously Tigers run deep for me.... but the other stuff, i can't really identify their significance. Which animal or bird has always fascinated you? Tigers and Dolphins. Birds? I'd say the hawk and eagle have always fascinated me, but I see more hawks around these parts!
When you visit the zoo, which animal do you wish to visit the most or first? Tigers, dolphins, Bears, Elephants What animal(s) do you see most frequently when you are out in nature? Sparrows Have you had encounterswith animals in the wild? Chipmunks and Deer, but I had an encounter with hawks - I was at work in my office building in Florida (years ago when i lived there), and suddenly there were like 3 or 4 hawks that landed on the outside ledge of the window of the office I was working in. They sat there for some time, just looking INSIDE the room (at me?! lol) Of all the animals in the world, which are you most interested in now? Tigers, Dolphins, Whales
What animal most frightens you? SNAKES!!!!
Have you ever been bitten or attacked by an animal? I've only been bitten by house cats lol
Do you have dreams with animals in them or are there animal dreams you have never forgotten? Yes, I've had nightmares about Bears or Tigers attacking the home I grew up in, coming up from the woods in back and trying desperately to get into the house to kill me. Have definitely had this one more than once. I've also had dreams about Gorillas trying to get me as well, but not in the same environment as the bears and tiger dreams. |

WOW, this was SO HELPFUL! I read up on the animals I connect to most - the tiger, the horse, the dolphin, the hawk, and somewhat to the Deer... and the combined descriptions amaze me. Complete truth to who I am. Amazing.
Thanks so very much for this link!
Love & Light, Gina

I have strangely and for a long time been attracted to snakes. I owned three of them (ther's that number again). Most people can't stand them. I love them. I do not fear them I revere snakes. I am afraid of horses, the fact that they can trample on me so easily... ok catching my 2nd wind it's gonna be ok Lila I tell myself. Ya did what ya had to do and Sined forgives you. I guess it's still touchy and I am sensitive. Lila |

(((((((((Lila)))))))))))) I am so sorry about Sined :( I know how you are feeling, and you did what you had to do for her. Bless her heart, and yours. I am facing this myself. I will have to put my beloved boy down soon as well. I am holding on as tightly as I can, but his hearing is gone, and soon his eyesight. He is also getting very arthritic, and is having a hard time getting around. Sined will be waiting for you on the rainbow bridge where you'll once again be joined in the Summerlands Thank you for your input regarding the animals in your life. Again this will help me greatly ((((((((((((huge hugs)))))))))) -J |
