This is a dream i had several years after my mother passed away.  I have been told this was a lucid dream, because there was no shift in time or place, and i actually thought i was awake. I awoke one night and got up and went into the kitchen.  I could see the driveway through the kitchen window.  A white van pulled down the driveway and parked in the yard.  A lady i did not recognize was driving and i saw my mother on the passenger side.  They both got out and my mother came into the house.  The other lady was walking around the yard and seemed to be sowing seeds.  I was alarmed that my mother was there, as she hugged my neck, i told her that she was dead and she wasn't supposed to be there.  I was extremely unsettled to say the least.  She told me several times that everything would be ok and that she had something for me.  She produced an old black telephone (one of the really big rotary kinds). She set it on the table and appeared to hook it up, though there was not a phone jack there. When she got done, she said that she had to go.  Her and this other lady got back in the van and left.  As i watched them leave, i kept looking at the phone.  I walked over to it and picked it up.  A lady was on the other end and said, can i help you?  I told her i needed to speak to my mother.  I was told to hold and seconds later my mother come on the line.  She told me she was glad that i had called, that she needed to check the grass.  I stuck the phone out the window ( through the glass) and a huge black hand came out from underneath the house and snatched the phone and pulled it under the house.  Then I woke up. I have do not recall dreaming of mother before this time although she had passed 3 1/2 years before.  And have not since. Could this be because she scared me so badly this time??
