| Thoughts of Higher Powers 
I've often thought of "higher power" and wondered where this phrase came from. To me it's as if we cut ourselves in half with this idea. If there is a "higher power" does that mean there is a "lower power"? Is this something that a person knows is part of them, but isn't quite them? It even sounds as if someone is wearing a "hat". But moreso it sounds like personality/identity of some kind. To me there are conscious, semi-conscious and unconscious awarenesses which involve the parallel emotional/thought patterns. Some are high and some are low and some inbetween. What makes it high or low? Well, I suppose densities of the vibrational wavelength and how our bodies respond. I find it a little strange to refer to myself in the 3rd person like "my" higher power. Like I "own" a higher power as if its an object. Well, I'll just let my higher power do the work because I certainly can't figure this out, sort of thing. Or maybe some people think its like God and if you pray to something "out there" like a higher power it will surely come to pass. I know if a person prays, meditates, extends or whatever they are doing to get something they want in their life, many a time it works. Its just not a mystical thing to me and its always been "me" doing the initial thought. Doesn't mean I don't get help along the way as I truly do believe that other spiritual beings out there pick up and also deliver. I also help myself by the opportunities I come across, but I don't actually give it much thought as to whether its a higher, inbetween or lower "power". To be mundane about it though it would seem that "higher" and then "power" might mean that either its more velocity involved or a lighter vibration in which something can become stable and hold its own in order to operate which would be the power part. I don't consider the concept very mystical. Just another thing to label our ability to not take full responsibility for what we ourselves create, whether it be low emotionally or high or no emotion at all. Those are my ponderings for the morning :). ---Larklyn
If you believe that the universe is composed of energy, then you may be able to conceive of higher and lower as a vibration quality in a scientific manner. This removes the judgement of "higher" and "lower." Energy is constantly moving, shaping many things including the physical world we live in and more. If you read books that speak about creation, they tend to mention something about "falling" into matter. The Vangelo delle Streghe, for instance, speaks about descent of Spirit into Matter. So this could be looked at as we were a higher vibration, and we separated. As we solidified into matter, our vibrations became lower and therefore more dense. That is always where I always thought those types of expression came from. Sometimes it helps to look at matter, specifically the three states of solids, liquids and gasses for an idea of this concept. A solid appears and acts the way it does because each atom has a certain average position that it never strays very far from. So in science you start with a solid, lets say ice, and apply heat. The energy of heat is added to the vibrational energy of the molecules making them vibrate at a faster rate. When the vibrations of the molecules exceed the energy of the bonds holding the molecules within a certain distance to each other, then the substance becomes a liquid. A fluid, in comparison to a solid, can move around much more. Fluids also have a higher density than that of as gas. Continuing to apply heat, the fluid become a gas. The gas can be heated also to make it even lighter or "higher." So the faster the vibrations, the lighter and less dense the substance is. There are many advantages to each type of form. A solid can be held easily in your hands, for instance, rather than having it slip through your fingers. It is a far nicer experience to shower in liquids rather than be pummeled dry with solids or perhaps gassed clean. The same can be said for the higher and lower forms of the self... Each one can provide different functions and experiences. What you do with these experiences and how you place value on them is up to you. ---Evonne |
