Biography
The name...heh, didn't come from big get together, not a huge impact made at some wrestling event. The six guys who made up the clique were sitting around in an ol' house and Bruiser who was regarded as kind of a leader, being the oldest, the most experienced wrestler, he said, "were a bunch of regular gangstas" and with everyone else he got a chuckle out of it. In response to him Shane Mack said, "yea, but were the best, were Da Gangstas" and well they all chuckled again, they would call themselves Da Gangstas from that point on whether it be as a group in a wrestling company or just in everday life.
The six originals were Bruiser, Cobra aka Nick Torres, Skull aka Troy Storms, XXX aka Xanthus, Viper, and Shane "Daddy" Mack.
Over the years different combinations of these men have teamed up as Da Gangstas, most commonly it was Storms and Torres. Bruiser would die in late '02, a suicide, but only after a near fatal car wreck leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and wishing he couldn't feel the rest of his body. On his birthday, his fortieth, he would end his suffering. A great loss to wrestling and a loss the rest of Da Gangstas continue to mourn, but they also continue to live on for their fallen friend.
In '02 Da Gangstas really made their impact, in SEF, though Viper was not with them as he had other interests at the time, the other five made a huge impact lasting forever even though their run didn't make it to the end of the year. They'd all go their own way and after Bruiser passed they just kinda shied away for a while, Storms and Torres continued on as Da Gangstas.
In '04 though, for the company DOGG we would get to see Da Gangstas back in full force as this was truly their company, their turf and they proved time and time again. Whether it was battling for the heavyweight title or battling other groups, Da Gangstas reigned on top. They had a hell of a rivalry with the Mafia Kingz that always seemed like it was one move away from turning to the street and not the ring. In the end Da Gangstas stayed on top, but when DOGG merged with SEF the group faded away.
'08 would see Da Gangstas reunite, four years after their last run. Storms and Torres the only originals with new member Black Bob, an OG from the D. They banded together at the expense of Hal Havoc, Storms and Torres having enough of following Havoc in the nMo and tired of the Westsiders gimmick, they went back to their roots. Now along with Bob their working like Da Gangstas always did, a team, they all got each others back and they all have no problem getting blood on their hands.
A new addition to the group a month after reuniting, an ol' face returned, Xanthus, so now the pack rolls as four and are worse than ever before!
