Actually, a good looking waggon and 210 HP from a 2 litre engine, not bad, says I with a 2L 110. Strange they only made one engine size though I note they went from 140-210HP. Did they sell the Probe in the USA? |

Its predecessor the Capri was much loved in the UK except for one point; axle tramp. Word was you put a heavy sandbag or 2 in the boot before hitting roundabouts. South Essex was the Dagenham factory, home of the Capri. Last ones the OHC 2.9s were all manufactured for management purchase before the assembly line closed. |

Seafire I lived in Essex and we did cash carrying for Fords at Dagenham. I was in security then in Chadwell heath (Romford) and any decent guard was snatched by ford at double plus pay Read this. They had some beasts I never knew of like the RS V6 3.2s and V4 2.O litres. I had the 2.3 V6 OHC manual in a Cortina. Clutch was a SOD but really smooth power steering too. Ford Capri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 1986 Ford Capri Mk III 1.6 Laser in Blackpool, England ..... a top of the range RS may feature a 3.2 litre 6 cylinder engine and four-wheel drive. ...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Capri - 96k - Cached - Similar pages Organised the security for the MK2 Granadas launch in Stamford Bridge in 1977. That dates me. |

The first had the 1.3 engine. Soon got rid of that. But as I mentioned elswhere they made a final run I think in 1988 and every manager ordered his special, with paint jobs the lot, paid cash in advance whatever, and those are worth a bomb if you can find them |

WHAT ENGINES DID YOU PUT IN THE CAPRI? WE HAD THE "DAGENHAM" ENGINES; 1.6S AND 1.8S AND 2.0L, AND THEN THE MIGHTY 2.8 AND 3.00 V6. THEN CAME THE GERMAN ENGINES, THE 2.3, 2.8, AND 2.9 V 6S. 1.8 WAS A TAX DODGE. 2.0 MORE ECONOMICAL THAN 1.6. THERE WAS ANOTHER FORD, HAD A SHARK FRONT AND A V4 1.5 AND AND AND!! 2.5L v6 LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE 1964-1970CORSAIR. JESUS! THE AMOUNT OF ENGINES WE WERE THROWING AROUND. |
