Here I am, back home, and look what you have done - no decorations!!!

Or maybe it is not all of your faults - just yours JB?

MY friend Stephen phoned to tell me that Explorer is now unsafe, the bloody chinese have hacked into it, and he told me to install Firefox - since then, I have noticed that I am unable to see links and things, like UTube - keep being told I need to upgrade my Adobe flashing thingy - well har har har - for all I know, that could be the chinks trying to fool me, so I am not uploading anything until Stephen is sat here next to me in case it all goes arse over tit.

Ah...............I just realised why it is all so bland - msn just knew we would all have a beano and be posting all the no-no pictures just to say "up yours Bill Gates"

The holiday was wonderful - saw a lot of places, even managed to make a snow angel on the bridge over the salmon leap, at Pitlochry................I suspect this message will go onto paragraph 2 any moment...............

Yes, as I suspected...............paragraph 2. (I must be psychic.............or maybe the word is psychotic?)

We adopted a "Gordon".............he is an elderly chap, lovely uppercrust accent - was on his own, and he was put onto our table the first evening meal, so we kept him. Well..........whilst it is ok for someone like me, to wander around a place alone, men are not really cut out for that, are they, besides, Gordon is ex-RAF (hence the accent eh wot) and DH is ex-army, so the brylcreem boy and the pongo got on with flying colours - it gave DH someone to play with whilst I was marching ahead.

One of the trips was to Dundee, and we spent a good couple of hours looking around the ship The Discovery - the one captained by Cpt Scott on his attempt to get to the South Pole - it was trapped in the ice for two years. There was a museum with films to watch, news of the time, and of course, to see the skiis they used and the clothes they wore. The ship was extremely interesting.

Another trip was to that distillery again (hic) with plenty of wee drams, we went to Pitlochry, and a couple of other places, can't quite remember,Blaire castle was one, and we had mulled wine there to warm us........... but it will come to me, and when DH sends me the photos, I will have to try to post them in the new group! (gulp)

One of our days there was called "Christmas Eve" and at dinner, we had mince pies and mulled wine with out meals. That evening entertainment, one of the lads from the hotel dressed up as Anne Robinson, and they did a "Weakest Link" game..............I had wanted to take part, but we were on the second sitting so by the time I had finished, all the contestants were chosen..............so I had to contend myself with shouting out answers hahaha.

Afterwards, Steven - the chap, said to me had I noticed that apart from him with his wig - I was the only redhaired person in the entire hotel, actually, I had not noticed until he mentioned it.

The next day, "Christmas Day" we had wee pressies outside the door when we got up.........a miniature bottle of whisky and some choccies. After breakfast we went to Pitlochry, and it snowed, so for me, I have had a white Christmas already.

A couple of days later, we had Hogmanay.............

Hogmanay is, as I am sure you all know - New Years Eve celebrations, or as we say in Norfolk - Old Years Night.

Anyway, a piper DID pipe in the haggis, and of course I had some haggis with whisky sauce - delicious. After dinner, we had a cadeligh (dancy thing).............I am so glad that my school taught us how to do Scottish dancing as well as ballroom dancing (in an effort to turn us into ladies and gentlemen) because I was able to join in the Gay Gordons and the Reels.................DH does not dance, but there were plenty of people to dance with.

Had a few "wee drams" bought for me that night wink wink.

We left at 07.30 on Monday morning and arrived home at 20.30. Barbara was here waiting.

Hayden had a couple of surprises for me - razor sharp top teeth (and whilst on the subject of teeth - remember how my dental brace dropped out in Ireland? Well - so far, so good, it stayed put in Scotland LOL)

Hayden now uses my hair, or Barbara's hair, to pull himself into a standing position, or if there is no hair available, he will use the furniture - at 7 months he is walking around the furniture and is now to be considered armed and dangerous with 4 teeth.

And talk about stubborn!!! Can't imagine where he gets that from (wink wink), but he is refusing to be spoon fed, no more baby food for him, no sir, now he has gnashers, he wants to use them on something other than human faces, as much fun as that is...............so Barbara now gives him cooked veges on his high-chair tray and he feeds himself............but he is still drinking milk from his bottle.

I tried to feed him some porridge when he was here, and I finished up wearing more than he ate, so I gave him the spoon and let him get on with it. Not sure what he was saying in his chatter as my daughter didn't specify that she wanted an English speaking baby, which means she has one that talks "foreign" but it is cute to listen to as he chatters on............and he seemed to like feeding himself.

Ok folks, settle down, final chapter coming up...............

I seem to have brought a sore throat back from Scotland - have no idea who it belongs to, I certainly didn't pack it, but now I have it - and a barking cough to go with it. My voice is pitched low anyway (some may be kind enough to say low, sultry and sexy................please, someone say that..................) but now it is so low, I sound like an underground train rumbling.

Tuesday, I brought Christmas to the house - someone has to, and DH is as useful as a chocolate teapot, so I spent the day putting up my Christmas tree - and cursing like mad at it of course as it wont do what I tell it, and I have put the cards up in the hall....................which reminds me..................see another thread LOL

I certainly enjoyed reading your missives, Joy.  Wish I could have been with you! When you said you adopted 'a Gordon,' I thought you meant a dog ...

I'm sorry ... can't quite find the new place. I'm afraid I'll loose all of my old friends from here and the Babyboomers.

I've been quite busy with weddings, work, snow, quilt guild newsletter, snow, church, snow ... Actually, it's only this weekend that we have (so far) had about 10 inches of snow, but we're starting on another storm right now.

This year I decided to ditch my Charlie Brown scrawny Christmas tree and buy a new, cute, 4.5 foot tree. I love it since it comes with pre-installed white lights.  While I love looking at my tree, I hate taking it down.  This year, sadly, I don't have to worry about Puffer knocking it over.  (It was kind of a tradition with the old one.)

My daughters will be coming Christmas Eve.    Have I finished shopping? I don't know -- half of the stuff is in transit from online shopping.  Sigh.  Have I bought the food? Nope, not yet.

I wish all of you a warm, cosy Christmas.  I'm off to do a bit of cooking for a "Celebration of Life" for a long time church member who recently passed away.  It's time for us to all count our blessings!

Tina - Lesley will guide you in, I would suggest asking JB to take you by the hand to guide you into the new place but when I tried that, it was not his hand I found myself grasping, and it was not the new place...............but we spent several wonderful hours anyway

Scotland is beautiful, I think if anyone can feel that their soul or being, belongs to a place, then for me, it is Scotland.  Hard to say why, I mean England is just as beautiful, where I live the countryside is wonderful and my village is pretty, but there is just something about Scotland that make me feel that "I have come home" when I get there.

When DH gets organised, maybe I can post some pictures!!!  He now has a new hobby - he is collecting military crosses and and is researching them to find out about the person they were awarded to - those and the Royal Red Cross Medals.
