[1885-1972] US poet, he lived in London from 1908. His Personae and Exultations 1909 established the principles of Imagism, asserting the principles of free verse, complex imagery, and poetic impersonality. His involvement in Fascist politics finally led to his arrest by US troops in Italy 1945. Found unfit to stand trial for treason, he was confined to a mental hospital until 1958. Returning to Venice, he spent the rest of his life as a recluse. http://cscs.umich.edu/~crshalizi/Poetry/Pound/An_Immorality
