With so many close House and Senate races this season, and the control of Congress hanging in the balance, this would be one of the most important election years - even without the historic race for president.

But despite all the media attention, debates and advertisements, many candidates for Congress have failed to make their positions on energy and global warming clear.

I don't know about you, but I want answers!

LCV has partnered with several other environmental groups to find out where the candidates stand during this important election - but it's up to you to ask!  Click here to find the answers. 

CandidAnswers is a new Web site that tracks the Congressional candidates' answers to the biggest environmental questions of our time. With the click of a button, a questionnaire will be sent to your candidates, asking for their positions on important energy and environmental questions.

No matter who you vote for, this tool is a great way to put the candidates on record - on energy, global warming and other key issues. The more people that participate - the more answers we get and the more we let the candidates know that these issues are important to us.

We did it!

The election is finally over, and dozens of new environmental champions will be heading to Washington in January, including President-Elect Barack Obama.  This election was a victory for our nation and for a new energy future.   I am especially proud of what we have accomplished together.

With your help, LCV helped elect several new pro-environment leaders to Congress, including Senators-Elect Mark Udall (CO), Tom Udall (NM), Kay Hagan (NC) and Jeanne Shaheen (NH).  We also kicked out some of the worst environmental foes, like Senator Elizabeth Dole (NC) and Representative Joe Knollenberg. 

Some races are so close that they have not yet been called.  Be sure to check our elections results page and our Dirty Dozen page for updates as they come in.

To thank you for your help in these outstanding victories for the environment, I would like to invite you to a post-election briefing tomorrow, Thursday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
