Through lashes thick with mascara
she watches them, those who never
qute fit..
inside she sadly smiles
remembering a time
so long ago it's now history.
A young girl shakes her hair
free for the wind to play.
She dreams for another life,
a different place to be.
Never seeing the wonder
that surrounds her..the young
are blinkered.
Thia bar fills slowly
as she twiddles her toes,
wondering at the choice
of nail colour, soon
she'll stand up,
flex her shoulders,
straighten the straps
of her little black dress,
and walk
to the two in the front row,
invite them to buy her
another drink
and if they refuse,
which she doubts,
no worries, there
are plenty of bars...
