Woodland Spring ~~ Carpets of bluebells Dance in the breeze Playground for butterflies And busy buzzing bees. ~~ Songbirds all trilling Their sweet springtime song Nesting, investing A future thats strong. ~~ Squirrels observing From their treetop drays vying for territory In the long summer days ~~ Shy fawns with their mothers On unsteady feet Feed on the green shoots Of spring till replete. ~~ The woodlands alive With the flora and fauna Peace reigns supreme In this one tiny corner. © Copyright VMM 2004 |

Hi Val I really enjoyed this poem, it is really lovely. Near where I live there are a few woodlands and places on the mountainsides that are just plastered in bluebells, it is like a big bluey purple carpet. They are my favourite flowers. Mari |

Delightful, Val, you capture my favourite time of the year so beautifully. I live just at the foot of the Southdowns which have spring time lambs, calves and foals which can be seen from upstairs windows, but we have a green in frint which is edged with huge beds of crocus and daffs, which are now over and cricket began again it easter.....so I now, sadly see the end of spring encroaching to make way for the roses....mmnnn, maybe not so sadly. Lovely poem, I enjoyed it very much, Val, love, Zy x |
