The camping trip this year was one that I looked forward to so that I could have a week off and just enjoy the outdoors and great friends.

We started out on Sat. morning, with a car loaded to the gills and a canoe strapped on top.  The canoe is longer than the car. There was 2 ways to go.. one was approx. 4.5 hrs and the other was just 4.  Of course, Camper took the 4.5 hrs.. He said "whats a half hr.. we are on vacation". Now why did it take us over 5.5 hrs?

We arrived in Watertown and found the hotel that I booked for the night. We were to meet Red and Jan there as well as Wynter wolf and Heidi.  Camper called Wynter Wolf and told him that we were there and what room we had.  They set up a time to meet. I swear that man gets ants in his pants cause he was hoping around there waiting. Finally he said .. I am going downstairs to wait..

He came back up to the room and opened the door with Wynter wolf and Heidi behind him.  They asked me if I was really Trina or was that just my name on here.  Yep, thats my name.. It was wonderful meeting the both of them. It's hard to meet someone from on here at times cause you just don't know what to expect and I am sure the Wynterwolf thought Camper was an escapee from a nut house by some of his posts. I even think that at times..

We all met up and head out for dinner. Wynter wolf took us down some streets that I swear that covered wagons used them last.  Talk about bumps, holes  you name it.. We followed Red. I had to call him and tell him that here in NY, we use our turning signal when we are making a turn.  I seem to recall a one finger salute coming from the driver's side window.

Had a great time at dinner and then off we went to see Watertown from a park on top of a hill.. A wonderful park. It was simply beautiful and the view was awsome.  We arrange to meet up again in the morning and we are all going to Cranberry Lake. Do these kids know what they are getting into.. with Camper and Red???

After a restful night sleep ( NOT) we had breakfast and off to Cranberry Lake.  A word to the wise.. don't book a room where we did in Watertown.

We get to our campsite and check out the bathrooms.  Then comes the unloading of the tents, screen tent and all of the rest of the gear in the car.

We put our tent up as Red is still wrestling with his.. Now he only brought 3 of them.. cause he knew that a couple just wasn't all there.. He got the right one on the first try.. Way to go Red!!! So far so good.. he hasn't gotten hurt yet.

We all just sat around chatting and getting things put away. The whole camp was put up in about an hr..Now I am not saying that putting the grill together took an hr.. more like 2 and with many hands helping or not.  Nice little grill that Red has.

First night at camp was quiet.. well sort of.. ummmmm maybe not all that quiet.  I heard the zipper unzip and someone stomping out of the tent.. checking with a flashlight here and there and of course shining it in our tent. We then heard scratching on our tent and this loud roar.  Camper and I both screamed like girls.. hahahaa

Monday morning everyone up bright and early.  Well.... almost everyone.. We sat around and talked till someone got up.  This was the day that we were going to check out the Lake with the canoes and the other camping sites that have waterfront.  Nice paddling for awhile, had ducks following the canoes but we didn't have anything for them this time. Everyone had lines in except for me.. I had a book in my lap and was enjoying the breeze and reading.  We followed the shore line.  The wind started to pick up so we paddled for shore.  The lake got a little rough and it was hard to paddle and the speed boats didn't help with the wakes.  It was tough going there for a few minutes but all made it safely to shore.

Tues.. up the river without a paddle so to speak. Brought out the trolling motor this time.  We still paddled here and there.  IT was nice though.  Went up to the falls and Jan showed up the guys with the first and the biggest fish.. Way to go Jan.  It was nice .. alot of boy scouts around and all were enjoying it all. The trip back down the river was a bit slower.. stopping to fish here and there. Just enjoying the time on the river.Red got to know some really good black flies.  They came to see him while he was paddling in the canoe.  The battery started to die out so we all had to paddle.  I couldn't figure for the life of me why it was so hard to paddle when we were going with the current.  UMMMMMMMM Jan and Tim.. PLEASE let go of the tow line...

Wed.. it was a day of nothing.  We all had books, mags and what not and just sat around and read.  Walked around the camp area and checked out other empty sites.  It rained off and on..Feeding the ducks was a great past time.

Thurs.. back at the fishing.  This time at the mouth of the River and did some at a trout stream.  Nothing to report there either.. Guess the fish were on vacation too.

Friday.. . did a few things, checked out the town and just enjoyed the peace and quiet.went up Bear Mountain, and saw a owl in flight. What a beautiful bird that is. Did I say peace and quiet well it was until more campers  moved in.  We pretty much had the area to ourselves up till Friday.  Now more were coming in for the weekend.

Sat.. we were off again to another lake.  This time I took some bread for ducks just in case I saw some. Sure enough I saw some beauties as well as the Canadian geese.  They swam right to the canoes.  THose mom and pop geese sure take care of their young.  They watched me very close as I was feeding their babies.

Sunday was rainy and we took everything down and packed up by 8:30 am.  It was time to go and none of us really wanted to leave.. wishing for a few more days of this and knowing that work was calling when we got home.  We all stopped at the Hillside diner and talked about the week and about next year plans.  I saw something there that I thought I would never ever see.. Camper couldn't eat all of his breakfast.. it was shocking.. he ate only half.. was he sick? Nope, the pancakes were just bigger than he ever thought. They were served on a huge platter.

After breakfast we said our goodbyes with hugs and wishing each a safe trip home and stay safe till we meet again.
The rain stopped and sun came out for a total of 10 minutes and then down came the rain again.. Traveled almost all the way home in down pours at times.

Each night we had campfires and Jan was our campfire girl.  She kept it going.  She went to look for wood and took camper with her.  They would bring back a few logs each time. Then took Red and the truck..lol no empty campsite was safe from the 3 wood snatchers.

The Campfire always brings the coziness of camping and the chatting around it with great friends makes it even more special.

Camper and Red kept us in stitches on the most part.  What one didn't think of the other did.  There were a few contests between them.. I have to say that the one was a tie.. OMG never knew that men could be sooo full of air.  Us gals were the innocent angels of the camp.. just ask us..lol  We didn't even deface the bathrooms.. They just built this one so we will have to wait a few years.

The food was plentiful and even enough to share the last night with a raccoon.  That critter had a sweet tooth and lucky that Camper wasn't out there cause there would of been a fight to the end for that last piece of pie.  The raccoon also made off with the last of the hotdog rolls.  Did I mention that someone ( his name starts with a C) didn't put the pie or rolls away when he was done with them that night?

The fans that Red brought did work well.  The last night we were there it was muggy. We used his ceiling fan and it was nice in there. Thanks Red for sharing..

The trip was great.. it was a time to relax and to just enjoy life.
